Hey guys

I put this in the optics forum already but I thought I'd post this here as well, as I made them for milsurp shooting, especially my Mosins.

The pinhole drastically increases you depth of field, allowing you to focus on the rear sight, front sight and target at the same time! The blinder on the other eye allows you to keep it open, this really improves your vision as well.

While they do look rather silly, if your shooting with post and notch sights the difference is night and day! It's much more like having peep sights.

You can give the concept a try by punching a small (1/16") hole in some black tape and putting this on your shooting glasses. This is just the ticket for milsurp shooters and those with aging eyes.

Thanks Maple,

Sorry no step by step instructions. I just followed the link above and then improvised a little to suit the lens I had and for the blinder. It wasn't really that hard, but took about 6 hours or so.

You can easily achieve the same end with black tape and improvising a blinder on your normal shooting glasses. Building them as I have just gives you more adjustability and was a fun project.

Or you can be a cheap bastard and use a $3.00 pair of flip up sunglasses.

Or pay $80.00 some dollars and buy the adjustable iris model.

Or the merit model.

Or spend the big bucks and look like a dork shooter who was assimilated by the Borg. :D

Just for the sake of asking how much is postage from the UK and if I accidentally walk into a door do they have a lifetime warranty.

UK£ 5 = 8.0625 U.S. dollars plus shipping?

Well, they look pretty professional to me!:)

I usually just shoot with old safety glasses from work. It was nice when they gave us some S&W shooting glasses to wear, but I don't think they'd be a good platform to build your arrangement on.

I shall see what I can cobble together.

Cheers!:)

Ed, good idea with the flip sunglasses

I think a light colour blinder will be better than a dark just because of contrast. The shooting eye is looking out into the light, if the other eye is staring at a black blinder it may cause more eyestrain. But I don't really know for sure.
