I have been looking at the pics of people's factory folders for the 858, and Im thinking thats what id like to do on my next one as the fab defense folder on my current one is kind of sloppy in its hinge and its extension tube.

My question is, as the title states, what is the best way to pad it? Should one just wrap the crap out of it with tape, or is there (preferably) something solid that could be made to slip on to it?

I was trying to ask the same thing in a different thread I made.

wrap the folding stock with foam tube and use heat shrink tubing around that.

or you can just buy an NEA folder that will interface with an AR stock or our new skeleton stock. did i mention the stock side hinges are interchangeable with the receiver side hinge on several rifle plat forms? this means you can move your favorite stock from gun to gun by removing a single bolt.
They are in production as we speak and will be available in Jan. I will post some pics tonight after i get home from visiting satan......... i mean my mother in-law.

With a little elbow grease, the factory sling, and a handyman's secret weapon: voila!

Just remember, wrap it "tight like a tiger"

Ugly and redneck, I know... but who doesn't like to try stupid things with thier new gun?

Maybe the original author should remove the word "Best" from "Best way to pad the 858 factory folder" title.

The question you have to ask yourself, is not "do I feel lucky?" But rather, do I feel like buying a new stock, or 1120 rounds of ammunition?

Quite frankly - I am strongly of the opinion that improvisation will be the most useful skill when the Zombies come knocking at your door.

Cool, that would be wicked awesome. My biggest beef has thus far been with fab defenses chintzy folding mechanism. Its prone to slop and not super user fast or user friendly to fold.

^ Not quite sure I can alter the title.

When I still had mine on, I used paracord and black electrical tape. Wrap it as you would a knife handle, then put a layer of tape on it to keep it dry. You can build as many layers of paracord as you want, to bring it to whatever thickness you desire.

You could just install this...............

with either our AR hinge side stock adpater or the hinge side adapter we are making for our new skeleton stock.

you will be able to buy them individuall so you can buy only for the stocks you want to use on the guns you want to use.

If your not feeling like a folder you could just install this

Slap on NEA's upper hand guard and a pair of flip up irons and your good to go. The pict rail on the adapter is on plane with the upper hand guard.

These will available some time in Jan, i will be playing with this over the Christmas break.

Those look pretty nice. Do you suppose you guys would be interested in making a rail to go over the top of the receiver from your fixed rear adapter to the NEA upper forgrip with an opening for BUIS? Or perhaps do the same but add a small rail to your folder adaptor?

Damn, wtb machinist tools myself, id make all sorts of cool goodies!

P.S. Just as a thought, perhaps the gunnutz admins could put you guys on the dealer threads so you could post your projects there in the meantime? Just a thought.
