Hello All. I bought a baby Eagle in 40 S&W a while back. It's a great pistol and I really like shooting it. I would never claim to be a great shot with a pistol, but I do ok...hoping to get better with practice. The problem is, the sights are non adjustable and I consistently hit the target about 4 inches directly to the left of the bullseye. I compensate for this simply by aiming the same distance to the right. I'm getting tired of doing this as it does nothing for accuracy, because I am literally guessing on every shot. I want to refine my shooting skills, but am having a hard time getting better because of the sights. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Thanks to all who respond.

Practise, practise and practise.

Hi there...

I am not expert, but i have the experience learning to shoot a pistol.. just started about a year ago.. can be one of the most frustrating things to do if you dont have anyone helping you from the beginning. Here are two charts that i found helpful.

for left handed shooters

for right handed shooters..

The other thing you need to do is practise practise and more practise. You can do dry fire to help get used to the trigger. But i like using ammo at the range. :D

Finally if you really think your gun needs to have its sights aligned take it to a good gunsmith and have him drift over the site for you.. Had to do that with my Springfield XD9 because it would shoot 4 inches to the left also (right from the factory).

Hope this helps..

Enjoy your pistol

Practice dry firing at home. Pick a precise spot on the wall and after you have pulled the trigger (don't forget to PROVE and ACT before pulling the trigger) keep focused on your front sight and your chosen mark on the wall and see if you are in fact pulling the gun to the left. If you pull the trigger and the front sight doesn't move at all then it's time to drift the sights over or look for some adjustable sights. Do this many times and you'll probably get better. Make sure to also use just the finger tip for trigger pull and not your finger joint. YMMV.

Thank you all for the helpfull information. Practice seems to be the key. The above chart will help me a lot in identifying antyhing I am doing wrong as I squeeze off. As a last resort I will find a 'smith to adjust the sights, but only if all else fails. Thanks again and have a safe and happy Christmas.

One day at the range I took a hammer and punch and drifted both the front and rear sight's slightly because my girl friend was doing the same thing. I also notice that different ammo resualts in different placement of the bullets. Who knows though it's probaly just me.

I got mine from highprofile in Mackenzie. I think they had another in stock. Not sure about forum rules for posting their info. If you pm me I can put you in contact. I tried to install it myself but ended up getting gunnar to do the job. While there I talked with Gunnar about a fiber optic front site. he said he would need to make a batch of 6 to make it worth it. Maybe if we can get enough interest we can convince him to build some.

I did the fiber optic thing with my gun .. did not help like more practise!

Hi again..

Just wanted to say that i spent over 120 bucks for a fiber optic site for my gun and it did not help much... Practise is better... The other thing i did was buy a match barrel from Storm lake barrels.. and that did help a bit.. but the real thing that helped me the most was to practise and get some advice from my shooting buddies...

Someone once told me that the difference better a good shooter and a not so good shooter is a Truck load of ammo!!!... and now i believe him..

I know all the guys shooting CZ Shadows at the IPSC matches aren't complaining about the FO Front sight. Maybe I'm just trying to keep up with the Jonses. Ever tried to shoot any early morning stage with the sun in your eyes? Red is easier to pick up than black.
