There may be no premium at all and chambers don't need to be cut sloppy. This is a special order run. Don't like 303 then don't buy it, simple eh? It may very well be a standard off the shelve rifle except for the calibre. At no time have I come across anyone saying anything about paying extra for a special serial number. It has to be serial numbered regardless and I don't see any extra cost in that but I may be wrong. I personally would like to see a non-standard barrel length in either 1A or 1S but 24" would be fine. Need to wait until word has come down from Ruger.Sorry you feel that way.
I like Ruger Number 1's just fine, just wouldn't be at all interested in paying a premium for a caliber that I would not otherwise have in my house. I certainly would not want a .303 Brit, cut with a SAAMI spec reamer. Too sloppy to pay premium for.
Not interested in anteing up a deposit on a rifle sight unseen, and about as enthused about paying any extra for a so-called special serial number.
Funny thing, about it being a free world and all.
Merry Christmas!
Cheers
