New tac-shotgun...check it out!

Wow...it's nice to see that people are more concerned about mag capacity than actually just giving an opinion on the project. To all those who made postitve comments...thanks...to the rest...well, it's Christmas, so I won't comment.

Hey Tyroma
Looks great! Really nice blend of the old and the new. I like the style.

Don't take the comments about mag limits negatively, I think nobody wants to see you lose that beautiful piece of work.

For your consideration......It is "old school style meets new world tactical". Here's what I did...

  • -shortened barrel to 20"
  • -attached a Trijicon ramp front sight
  • -bead blasted the receiver and barrel to get a flat finish
  • -re-blued the gun using Oxpho-Blue (...what a great product!)
  • -added 2 round mag-tub extension and spring (capacity is 7+1)
  • -attached picatinny scope rail
  • -added holographic sight

Have a look and PLEASE let me know what you think!

Thanks!
TY

Ty:

I really like what I see. Is that one a 2.75 or 3" model (not sure it the 11 came in a 3")

If I might make a suggestion or two

- move the rail forward to allow for the installation of a rear peep sight

- replace the +2 with a +1, and be good to go wrt mag capacity

- is there any MFG out there making new shorter barrels out there?? Just short enough to keep the OL length out of Restricted status, but shorter for use in tighter spaces, & make it handle better

- Have you done anything with the charging handle/ bolt release latch ?

- A practical no nonsense way to mount a flashlight would be helpful. (IE Perhaps in place of the +2 one could mount one in a mag cap/tube of some sort, but switch attenuation may be an issue)

Just a couple of thoughts

regards

AbH

Actually, the more I look at this thread, the gun is looking pretty good. Not really my style, but still a decent project....Nice work

X2

I think its a very interesting piece. This was also a favorite with the auto bandits in the 30's, but they cut them down a lot more.

nice looking gun, i had a auto 5 made in 1936. what a great peice. i love what you have done. keep up the good work. when i get back to work ill see what we have in the vault and if we have one see if can copy what you did. looks great.

Thanks for all the new positive comments. For those who hijacked the thread for a forum on mag restrictions...did you stop to consider that maybe I just like the way the extended mag looks (...as in the Rem 1100 Tactical)?

Simon, thanks for the comment and that is the 870 extension...fits the threads on the Rem.

AbHobbyist...thanks for the suggestions...I was thinking about something for a large charging handle, an AR style low-mount rear peep will fit on the rail.

Onagoth...I felt the same way initially about the A5's and Rem 11's...then I found some pics of military ones and fell in love.

Tobin...you are correct...most famous of the bandits were Bonnie and Clive...he carried a sawed off 12 ga and she carried a cut down 20ga!

Angrysoldier...thanks for the comment...it's a great gun. If you do shorten it, just remember to arrange the gas rings the right way with a short barrel (there is a specific order with the riot length barrels).

Thanks to all...have a great holiday season.

Ty
