My .22 hunting rifle has always been my Marlin 7000, accurate and reliable rifle. I just won a free Mossberg 702 plinkster at a sale though, and it's so light it may become my new grouse gun.

So, just out of curiosity.....what do you use for grouse/squirrels/small stuff that runs irratically?

I use a .410 for small runners. As for hunting with a .22...for removal of critters, I use mainly a 1940 Marlin Model 81. 24 inch barrel and great even for long ones. this year I will be using a newly acquired Mossberg 144 lsb. Heavy barrel and 27 inches long.

I use my Savage 93F .22 mag for grouse, and if a coyote happens by, he gets it too. I also have a Northa American Arms Grizzly bolt action clip for gophers that is very accurate. My Grandson uses my Marlin 795, and we spend many days out in the gopher fields.

A very predictable nod to the 10/22 carbine. Use it to play with gophers and such inside of 50ish yards at the father-in-laws farm. Has a cheapie 3-9x32 tasco, I gave it a trigger job and is surprisingly accurate. An absolute blast.

I use my Ruger 10/22 with the nordic stock and a red/green dot scope. It has a Tactical solutions barrel. Very accurate within 100m.

I use a Lakefield 64b with a bushnell 22 rimfire scope or even without the scope. It's an accurate enough with the right ammo.

I use a Ruger 10/22 in a Revolution grey laminate stock, green mountain bull barrel & a couple other tinker'ed internal parts. My wife has a Ruger 10/22 in a hot bubble gun pink, yes, I said HOT BUBBLE GUN PINK... Still gotta do some tinkering on the internals for her, it's on my honey-do list...

Oh ya, both have the 4-12 bushnell dusk to dawn scopes with adjustable bell objectives, so you can set the paralax @ 50 meters... Most 22 ranges are within 50 meters in my experience...

Here they are...

Cheers

P.S. 12 gauge for all running & flying small game, I use a dog, so one minute you might be shooting grouse or woodcock on the wing, then shooting a running rabbit...

You HAVE to try some CB's outta that.....I actually laughed out loud the first time I tried it.....1/2 the noise of my daughters Red Ryder! Nothing like being able to hear the firing pin strike the case :D
