I hear many different things from the guns that fire this cartrige, and if most agree none is really accurate, I would really appreciate if someone could clarify this.

I read sources telling ak, sks and...well any semi-auto in 7.62x39, including the CZ are pretty much the same when speaking accuracy(crap). I also read the SKS was the most accurate, and some other sources states that it is the CZ.

Wich one is the most accurate? Do people agree about a winner somewhere?

I am planning on buying an sks soon, but I am also considering the CZ, mainly because it would not be chinese...But if it isn't at least more accurate...there is no point in buying a weapon 4x the price.

Thanks and merry chrismas!

Bienvenue!

The 7.62x39 is as accurate as many other service rifle cartridges, and it is less accurate than many. The complaints against the cartridge can be traced to the SKS and AK family of rifles. The CZ's came appeared after the bad rep was well entrenched. With the right bullet, velocity and experimentation, there is always a chance. Whether your SKS is capable of delivering that accuracy is another question. You'll just have to keep buying rifles to find one that shoots as well as you want!

None of them are sniper guns but if you want a fun cheap plinker I would rate them for accuracy as follows

1-CZ858-2
2-VZ 52/57
2-YUGO SKS 59/66
3-Russian SKS
4-Early Chinese SKS

Thanks you guys. So there IS a difference!

According that you have the right bullet for your weapon, what kind of accuracy can you expect from a CZ-878? Much more than from an sks?

I read a new SKS would almost do 2 MOA(I also read 6 to 8...this is why I am confused), what about a CZ?

SKS and CZs vary from 2MOA - 5MOA "depends on ammo, if theres optics and if the gun was made on a fri or not lol.

CZs are better made and you will get between 2-3MOA with them. SKSs are go too but can vary in quality. If you want to go cheap, get a SKS45. If you want the cool looking gun, get a CZ858 "you will need to spend more time cleaning the Non chrome CZ though"

One of my buddies shoots my Chinese SKS within 2 MOAs, but I can NOT, this is an iron sight rifle, VERY VERY depends on the shooter who has good eyes or not.

Nice! If the rifle is as accurate as the sights, it is better than I thought, and if you are telling me the SKS can do better than most eyes whithout a scope, it is enough, for the price anyway...unless the sights are really crap.

standing position, no rest, 5-round burst fire, 100 meters, all 5 bullets drill into an 8-10inches group for sure. my Chinese SKS ( we call Type 56 semi ) guarantees every time i can made it

i have 2 SKSs, at least 1000 rounds went thru each, never jam even one round on both.

I suspect a big reason the SKS has a reputation of being innacurate is the cheap surplus ammo and the mediocre sights (or questionable scope mounts).

The only way I can get my 58 down to 1MOA is with handloads. 2MOA with surplus is more likely for most good shooters.

I do have some S&B & Privi commercial ammo that'll shoot close to MOA. Contrary to some reports here 'd say it's 99% unlikely you'll ever see better than 1.5-2MOA with surplus. Most people I have shot with are likely to get 6" @100.

But this is the internet, and everyone shoots sub-MOA with everything the own..

is there an optical scope on your 58?
my sks only has iron sight and surplus ammo

These are utilitarian firearms, grab an SKS from Marstar's upcoming shipment, a crate of ammo and go have some fun. If you really hate it, wait a couple of years and get 3x your money back selling it in the EE.
IMHO the CZ is a better firearm, the Russians though so too, that is why they let the Czechs build them instead of the AKs that everyone else had to build. If you want the best potential for accuracy, you would be better of with a CZ.
The ammo you shoot has a lot to do with accuracy or lack there of.

1 m o a

A tuned 858 (non chrome barrel) will shoot 1" at a hundred with czech surplus,if you sort it by overall length off the ogive.
Wolf non corrosive hp slightly better.

have you tried "standing position, no rest, burst fire at 100 meters" before?
keep your mouth shut until you try it out please

Yes I have. Short bursts with a fully auto on moving targets. At 100 a 3 round burst looked like a 1" straight cut in the fiberglass target.

Somehow I doubt the SKS is able to fire bursts but in any case, try to stabilize your offhand stance by pulling on the sling. You might turn your spreads in to groups.
