...after visiting Sakos website and a moderate amount of searching here I can't seem to find any solid info on an accuracy guarantee.
Can someone who owns one please give me details on the accuracy guarantee if it does exist. Is a factory test target included? Is the guarantee in writing? Tell me how yours prints with handloads, try and talk me out of buying one of these! :p
 
I have a Bavaria, that did not meet the accuracy guarantee with Winchester power points, but with a standard H4350/165 gr hornady load it did.

It's a nice rifle.
 
Sako guarantee

I can tell you that I have a Beretta catalogue from 2008 that states that all Sako 85 rifles have to shoot a 5-shot, 1-inch group before they leave the factory. However if you go to the Sako website you will notice that no such guarantee appears there. I believe that has to do with some of the calibers not being inherently accurate.

I have not owned a Finnlight, but have owned three other Sako 85's - two of which I still own. The two I own will shoot a three shot sub-moa group with the right loads - but they are not the most accurate factory rifles I have shot or owned. They are however a fine piece of craftsmanship and I do believe the latest craze for sub-moa rifles has gotten people forgetting that most shots in hunting are taken quickly from the off-hand position.

Don't let the lack of guarantee dissuade you from buying a Sako Finnlight unless you want it for target work. The Finnlight is a great hunting rifle. Remember most of your time will be spent carrying - not firing - the rifle.
 
I think they quit posting guaranteed accuracy as the ammo and shooter make quite a bit of difference. I don't think you will find a bad shooting finnlight once you find the load it likes...really, they all should shoot sub moa, once the correct ammo is found.

Motor, thx for your reply and I like to hear about your other 85's shooting M.O.A.
I actually spend alot of time on the bench with my hunting rifles, and dropping 2000$ on a rifle that "may or may not" shoot MOA with handloads gives me the heebie-jeebies!
I have been burned by a couple of purchases as of late that aren't living-up to accuracy claims, real or imagined and I need to know if Sako [beretta?] would stand by this implied warranty if my Finnlite won't shoot.

My 85 S/S never came with any sort of target or accuracy guarantee.

Also I don't think I'd ever pay 2000$ for a Sako. At the end of it all you got a factory rifle with a POS plastic stock that has little aftermarket support for rings, stocks and such. 2000$ can almost get you a blueprinted, custom barreled rifle of your choice in a McMillan stock.:)
 
my trg's never came with a factory target or guarantee either, if they don't shoot well simply send them back and Sako will rectify any trouble.

I've owned 8 different Sako rifles, a couple of AV's, an A111, an A1, three different 75's and now the 85 Bavaria and all of them shot MOA when I was up to it. All except one of them took to the first real load development I did for them(an AV 300 winny took maybe three differnent combo's), all function flawlessly, fit and finish is first rate and they look great. I've never owned a Cooper, but I keep selling Sako's and buying remchester's and inevitably I cry in my soup afterwards and soon enough I am back shooting another Sako.

To me, I've seen enough guys that couldn't get Jack O'Connor's personal 270 to shoot MOA if their lives depended on it that I don't worry about the guarantee. Sako makes very accurate rifles that function just about perfectly everytime, can't expect much more than that.

Words of wisdom Martin! Having owned 8 of them I would call you somewhat of an authority. If all your Sakos shot well that sounds quite indicative of thier quality.
 
I have a Sako 85 in 7mm-08. Bought it used just over a year ago for a pretty good deal. The guy who owned it before bought it for his wife but she refused to go hunting with him. Not a single mark or scratch on it.

While I love my rifle, I'm not sure I could spend $2,000 on one. The price of the rings did suck as well but now that it's all together, I absolutely love it.

With 140gr. Accubonds, it'll punch a raged 5 hole group off a bench rest at 100 yards.
 
I own a Sako 85 in 300wm for 3 years now. With hand loads, I get .5" at 200 meters and 1" at 300 meters. I can't ask for any thing better.

Last year I bought a Sako A7 in 270 and out of box with factory ammo, it gives me less then 1" at 100 meters. I still have to find a load for it and I am sure it will be better then 1".

You cann't go wrong with Sako.....
