browning hi-power interchangeabale with inglis ?

I'm having a little bet with a freind,he says the newer Browning slides will fit a older inglis frame and vice versa.I said i don't think they are interchangeable,i have a Browning hi-power but no inglis hp to try this out.So if anybody knows the answer please let me know,supper and wobbly pops are on the line.Any info is appreciated guys and girls thanks.

Congradulations on buying your buddy dinner.

9mm slides and frames interchange with little or no fitting.

The difference is actually in the barrel cam slot. There are 3 cam variations on the bottom of the barrel.

The first is round, the second angled, and the 3rd is the second with the angled cam slot reduced in size.

A new(er) barrel can be fitted in place of either of the earlier variations. This is why FN barrels are now used as replacements in Inglis hi-powers.

The conjecture is that the change in size of the cam slot was so that Canadian Arsenals Limited could not sell parts/guns in direct competition to FN.

As i recall, without looking at mine, the extractor is different in the two, but the slides do interechange.

the inglis uses the old style internal extractor just like early high powers the later highpowers used an external extractor.
