Assault rifles...for people with good taste" ??

Considering how touchy some gun owners get when you call their boomsticks 'weapons,' I think that everybody jumping down the OP's throat is a little crass. He asked a simple question. The ugly sh*tstorm that followed was pointless and thick-headed. He wasn't advocating taking away everybody's guns, fer chrissakes.

And for the record, I'm also against anything that could make an anti point to a part of this site and claim that we're scarier than we are, especially because they tend to do stuff like that on TV and bend the general mindset in their direction. Remember that the default setting in this country is that they win.

I don't personally care about the subtitle on this forum, but the OP's not being a princess; he's raising a legit question.
 
I have to agree......it's nice to look at it with a "f**k 'em" attitude...but the battle is not to win over the anti's, it's to winn the undecideds.

I just think that while WE know it's in jest, and WE appreciate the "f**k you" intention of the subtitle, it is counterproductive in trying to sway fence sitters over to our side....and (like it or not) we are at a junction right now when it comes to the PR battle and with increased talk of bannings, we are definitely at a critical crossroads when it comes to our future ownership of these firearms.

If we give ammo to the anti's, they WILL use it to sway the undecided to thier camp and increase their numbers....I just don't think we should be giving them any help.

I'm not sayin'....I'm just sayin' ;)
 
LOL.... notice how it's always some ignorant nag-tastic fat ##### that starts all the "anti-fun-things" movements. They're trying to get rid of guns, video games, action films, SUVs and muscle/sport cars, etc. Everything we find fun. Is this their way of getting back at us for centuries of "male oppression"??

I only find a problem with the "for people with good taste part" as everyones taste is different, I am sure almost everyone who looks in this forum no matter what they like or dislike will find something they do not find in "good taste" as everyones opinion is subjective to their own taste, not others.

First I get the sarcasm. However, don't dis the newbs too bad. We are the new blood, are joining out of shared interest and have common concerns where our rights are heading.
Don't forget everyone thought the Earth was flat for hundreds of years until 1 person refused to back down on his belief that it was cubic...er... round. Personally I'd like to have that guy lobbying for our rights as firearm owners and users. Personally I've been squeaking like hell for years and don't seem to be getting anywhere yet.
 
You know, it doesn't matter if we call them firearms, assault rifles or WMD's. Being quiet and keeping a low profile didn't help us 10 years ago so I'm load and proud now. The further we are in the loud direction the more normal we're going to seem.

Yep the whole "PC" thing aint helping us. I dont care if someone calls an AR15 an Assault Rifle, or a semi auto rifle, or whatever. But hiding behind the PC wall and trying to make guns sound "appeasing" to the anti-gunners wont help us at all.
 
I think there's a difference between living under the thumb of the PC thing and misrepresenting a class of firearms just so's we can be loud and proud.

And jumping all over a newer member for asking a question rather than immediately toeing the line.

And just for the record, I've brought more people around (well, at least to not minding that I have a gun :rolleyes:) by speaking reasonably about my firearm than I have by being a loudmouthed a55 about it.

I agree. Everytime the anti's start calling our guns assault rifles everyone gets all upset and calls them idiots for not knowing what they are talking about, but then here so many people want to call them assault rifles. Doesnt make too much sense to me.

There are some lucky 12(X) owners who do have assault rifles....
 
Back in the 80's and the 90's, all the magazines call these rifles "assualt weapons".

Antis did not invent the word "assault weapons". Gun dealers and the firearms press pioneered the use of "assault weapons" to move guns. |The market who bought these firearms backthen love it....until they got burnt by their own marketing scheme.

When politics caught up, "assault weapons" became the un-PC terms, even among the people who formerly pushed for the use of these terms.

"Assault" has been replaced by "Tactical" these days. Give it a couple more years, and that'll be on the "evil list" too. It's all political (in)correctness BS. Trying to please everyone at the same time, and rather, pissing everyone off instead. Fun times. :dancingbanana:
