Ruger SR-22

that was my point, its not the rifles fault, its all mine for not putting optics on it first...

put a proper 4position collapsaable stock on it today
a shop in edmonton has a bunch that apparantly wont fit anything, and i was even told it wouldnt fit mine, after the theads were measured...
it threaded in until i ran out of threads and the nut tightened up beautifully.
i dont know how much that stock should have cost, but 110 is what i paid..
i tried to mount a nice little scope on it that is meant for an AR with illuminated reticle and laser pointer,but it couldnt be turned down enough for elevation???? what would someone suggest for this gun???
the main rail sits really high above the barrel
i would like some magnification.. but an eotech might go on it if nothing else will work.. i dont want a hunting scope on it
 
picked one up from p+d yesterday for $550. nice little unit! put the collabpsable stock on and a bsa 1-8x scope. i have a walther ps22 red dot air gun scope that i might try out as well. hopefully get to the range this weekend!
 
now if only someone would make a mag like this instead of those ruger wiener mags:

btw - i see a glaring problem with the SR-22 that the factory should have addressed, but since it didnt new owners might want to look into.
have people forgotten what happens to a soft aluminum 10/22 receiver when you hang an unsupported heavy barrel off the end of it?

Ruger should have made that a new 1-piece CNC'd steel or beefed up HA-III receiver that took the place of the old 10/22 receiver (like the VQ or Tactical Solutions receivers), instead of an aluminum shroud for the existing soft aluminum 10/22 receiver with an unsupported heavy barrel hung off it.
perhaps it could be addressed with a rubber donut in the handguard that supports the barrel - and could also act as a harmonic stabilizer - but that all depends on how solidly the handguard is attached to the receiver.

Ok so this is an odd first post but I have always found everything I needed with the search function...so here it goes.

I was home for Christmas and stopped by the local gun store in central Saskatchewan and saw the SR-22... of course I bought it :) 625 including taxes and the 25 shot clip.

I just had a chance today to try it out and I put 500 rounds through it... I LOVED IT.

As a side note you have to use extra tall scope mounts to put a scope on it or the scope will be too low to look through.

As for acuracy it is very accurate! I put an old 3 x 9 scope I had laying around on it and at 50 yards they were all in the center ring! Not even one ouside of it.
(of course that was after sighting it in properly, and having a bunch of those "how fast can I shoot off all 25 rounds")

PS. I took it into Bass Pro here in Calgary today to figure out what scope mounts would work and I had all the clerks at the firearms desk drewling all over it :)

Well ................ I kinda dont see this being to much of a problem as from your picture there is a good chunk of alumininum underneth the V-block witch should give plentty of support , but then again what do I know..... whats the barrel length 16vs20 ? , how about you tell me the weight of the factory 18.5 vs a 16 inch heavey ? then can you tell me the difference in stress on the receiver for that weight ,just a hunch ,could the 20+ 10/22s I have built over the years for my self ,not incuding the ones I have built for others:D

Oh one other thing ...........arnt those Damm Ar15 uppers and lowers made with aluminum ,with no stock supporting the barrel or heavy barrel ,and what about all the other stuff hanging off those uppers.........built a few of those too....;)

heard of it never once seen it happen ,but have heard of it ,wouldent blame the receiver , it can be the V-block that will pull down a Loose fitting barrel and hence you will get a barrel droop ,if you can wiggle it there you have it . Nice tight barrels you must put in the freezer for a few hours befor the will fit in the receiver and you will see no barrel droop what so ever . the hump on top of the receiver can also be contributeted by a bad powder coating job and is easly fixed ..........
again Look at you picture ,you will see the aluminum under the V block ,inturn adds support
 
The Outdoorsman in Medicine Hat had 3 for $599.00 each but they were sold the same day . I'll get one inthe next shipment
 
I just picked up the last one at P+D today. Looks like its going to be fun. Can't wait to get some sort of sight system on it. Thinking of some sort of iron sights?

I have had one of these rifles for close to three years. The frame is the same as my Nordic components frame. The SR-22 frame is made by Nordic components, and is basically the same.

I have an 18.5" heavy barrel by Tactical solutions on it. My rifle shoots the bull out at 100 yds. No sag, ever. The nordic set up is ROCK SOLID.
 
Sorry I haven't added my 2 cents lately but just got back from seeing my only grand kids and family in Dubai. These rifles arrived when we were out of the country and as of the 2 Jan we are sold out. We have another shipment coming in this week...$550 or $675 with am M-4 collapsible stock. Scott had a good look at the original stock and modifying it would be do-able but a lot of machining. The buffer tube would have to be machined and drilled after the pin was removed. I think replacing the stock is a simpler and cost effective answer. With reference to the barrel mounting system being inadequate...I have never seen this problem including when using heavy barrels. The biggest issue with heavy barrels has been with the single mounting screw for the action leaving some play in stock/barrel fit but the easiest solution seems to be a rubber or foam insert betweem the bottom of the barrel and the front of the stock barrel channel. Phil.

just want to say how happy I am with the service (again), your staff gave my Mother and I. I think I got the first one of the SR 22's on the 24th, just before you closed. It was impulse buy, but am happy with it.
Now, if only I could find a way to fit that 7-08 stainless laminate compact into my budget! ;)

Glad you are in Edmonton, only three hours away. As opposed being closer - I would be poorer than I am now, or farther, and not get to talk/deal with your great staff!

Mine came in the mail from P+D ent today (had to chase the Canada post guys to 2 post offices because was put on wrong truck and miss delivered......aghhhh Canada post )

Gun looks great , cant wait to get it out ,will put up pictures when I get a chance
