Electrical tape over end of muzzle?

Tape them all the time, and wrap a spare piece of tape somewhere else around the bbl in case I, or someone else needs it.

I used tape too...there's no issue with using tape because the pressure of exiting gas pushes it off the barrel before the bullet arrives. It's actually a perfect solution but definitely low tech (which when you think of it, is what you SHOULD be looking for when it comes to protecting your barrel.)

I've been using electrical tape over the muzzle for more then 30 years. No problem at all. Balloons, condoms etc tear too easilly in the cold. Put a few extra turns around the muzzle behind the front sight so that after you shoot through one piece you'll have more to use.

I've tried cots, but they hold moisture against the barrel - a nasty little place for rust to begin. I like a little circle of tape - tuck tape - cut to fit is nicer.

Always.

When I shortened my rifle barrel to 20" I had the front sight installed half an inch back from the muzzle to make taping it easier.

If anything I'd avoid using red or orange tape. The tips of toy guns are often colored red or orange to identify them as toys. I'm not sure if this could lead to problems. I can't see anyone having a problem with black.

I got checked out by a co and an rcmp after I finished a bush push, they asked me what that little balloon was on the end of my 338 sako, I asked them if they had ever heard of safe hunting, that young cop was intellegent, he had to turn away because he was laughing so hard

I taped my barrel this year. Nothing bad happened. But then again, nothing bad happened before I started taping. But now nothing can happen. Hopefully.
