So just to summarize all the point about the Glock Gen4 ...

• Initially Glock 17 (9mm) and Glock 22 (.40 S&W) will be available. Compact models will follow later in 2010.
• Features duel recoil spring which should increase reliability.
• Features Swappable backstraps.
• Magazine release swappable between left and right.
• Old magazines still work, but only when mag release is on left side.
• Gen4 slide is clearly marked as "Gen4".
• Retail price for G17 and G22 Gen4 is about $700 (actual prices will be lower than this).
• Glock will cease sales of the 3rd Generation and RTF models.

i like my gen3 just fine. swappable backstrap is nice on the gen4, dual recoil spring? i thought the previous glock models were reliable enough

they should have went all ambi functions.

can't wait for the Springfield XDM

I have have had my M+P for two years it has all those options including the 2 piece recoil spring (aftermarket).If you can,t beat them copy them even if it is a bad copy.

Well, considering the M&P is essentially a GLOCK clone, the two are just going in circles now, improving upon their designs... good.

haha i know, i'll probably have my glock for a very long long long time. but if and when glock comes out with their "gen 5" i'm sure they will change the look and add some other goodies on it.

until then, i'll wait for my SF XDM, and keep on workin' that glock HARD!

anyone know where i can find a stainless slide for my G17 ?

I was starting to think with all the secrecy around the new model there was going to be somethign quite revolutionary comming out. I find Glock is like Porsche. A fine piece of engineering but very little change between designs.

They're going with what works. Apparently most their focus is primarily on LE and MIL. The market gets secondary consideration.
