Hey, I hate to be redundant but.... as a relative noobie I am looking for the 'perfect 9mm' to start with. I am considering the beretta storm, glock 17 and have the frontrunner being the CZ75/85 .... ANY suggestions would be welcome. (BTW I have tried lots at local range but haven't determined the winner yet.) Thanks in advance....

The Glock 17 was my first pistol and even after trying a few other pistols I still enjoy how this simple piece of engineering can be pretty accurate and reliable. Accessories are also cheap and easy to have. Canno't comment on the other pistols since I have never owned those

a good all around shooter is the G17...with some cool sights it make a descent range gun and it never rust.

a look at the CZ shadow would be wise cuze this pistol is a great target shooter already sporting good sights with a FO front. heavier than the glock it mean a little less recoil and some like the feel of a heavier front for double taps.

i own both,i use the shadow more for serious target drills but the glock is fun too...

both are quite cheaper than the storm.

I have both CZ and G17. CZ is a way better gun than Glock but as Jordi09 mentioned, Glock is a very simple gun and is very easy to clean. I do go for a CZ over the Glock.

It is always about what works best for "you."
Having said that, what works for me is a Glock.
Let me add: I drink Kool-aid, daily.

I have recently bought a CZ P07 duty, and I fell in love with it. Great thing to shoot, price is great too, I got it for $625, actually you could go to The Shooting Edge to see it, I am 100% sure they have it. It's extremely accurate, low recoil, great grip.....Then again, you can always buy a Glock 17. At least look at the CZ, it's worth it!

you want a first gun to be problem free, get something that will be 100% all the time. Play with finicky guns once you get some experiance. Get a Beretta 92 first...then get a 1911, CZ ect

That(Beretta 92/M9) was on my list but I didn't want to make the list too long.....

I have both the Shadow and the 85 Combat. For IDPA I prefer the 85 Combat. The gun is a tad lighter and with competition sights and hammer is the equal of the Shadow. For IPSC I run the Shadow. Both are excellent guns. My Shadow shoots a tad high but works well in IPSC where the target has a longer vertical "A' zone.

You can't go wrong with either. The Glock 17 is a very good gun for LEO's and makes an excellent range gun. The gun works very well in IDPA where you see a lot of them used in SSP Division. I don't see many Glocks in IPSC Production where the Shadow seems to rule.

All three of the guns will serve your purposes. Buy the one you are most comfortable with. It really doesn't matter what I or others prefer it is what you prefer.

Take Care

If I could go back in time, I would start with a CZ 75 or 85 (75 are cheeper). After spending lots (and lots) of money on 9mm ammo, I would than buy the .22LR conversion kits (about 500$).
When I started, I bought a lots of different guns and sold everything but kept my beretta 92fs and CZ. CZ are great guns...the more you shoot, the more they become accurate!!!

The .22LR option is the best deal for a newbie, you will keep the feeling of a 9 and plink with .22 extremely cheep ammo.

I have a G17 and a CZ-75B.

If I had to pick a gun I'd pick a G17 and a CZ-75B.

You will too, regardless of how perfectly one fits your hand over the other, or of you intend to compete.... blah blah blah...
