I have developed a unique approach to solving the front sight dilemma for shorty M14's.
We make the front sight base part of the gas assembly, by TIG welding a precisely machined dovetail platform directly to the assembly's forward ring.
The result is a correctly positioned front sight base allowing use of a regular M14 front sight. I do recommend getting the front sight that springfield or smith ent make for their short barrels.
The finished product is detailed and contoured to appear as one withe cylinder ring, smoothening out and profiling to a neatly finished product.
I have 2 testers AKA guinea pigs :) but I would like 5 more.
So, if you have a spare gas assembly and would like to submit it to be modified.... And you have a shorty m14... Socom or 18.5 norc...AND you do a lot of shooting ;) .
Email me and I will post the names of the testers here. This will be a free mod, front sight Not included. You cover shipping both ways.
Testers will be free to comment as they wish in this thread so a fully impartial review may take place.

Getting closer.... For those of you who sent in your gas assemblies for the ultimate front sight solution.... Expect them back next week.
I've already heard back from one tester who is also now convinced that this mod is indeed, the ultimate front sight solution for the shortened norc.
