The annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is where the biggest names in technology come to unveil the latest consumer products. The show features more than just toys, phones and games. Last year, for example, Taser International vice president of communications Steve Tuttle showed off the company's Mossberg Less Lethal Shotgun.

What if the bad guy think...Why this guy pointing me with a toy shotgun?

now cops can also shoot 70 year olds in the chest with rubber slugs instead of just tasering them.

* A high twist, rifled barrel system that is optimized for the lower
velocities of less-lethal projectiles. Whereas standard Mossberg
rifled barrels have a twist of 1 in 36 inches, the twist ratio for
the TASER X12 LLS is 1 in 18 inches This higher twist rate provides
enhanced projectile stability at the lower velocities used for
less-lethal projectiles such as the TASER XREP projectile.

* A Picatinny Rail system with the X-Rail mount pre-installed. The
X-Rail mount allows the user to mount a standard TASER X26 ECD to
the system. Together, the TASER X12 LLS with TASER X26 ECD
integration gives the operator the ability to engage subjects across
the full range of engagement distances, with the TASER X26 ECD
optimized for engagements within 20 feet, and the TASER XREP
projectile for subjects beyond 20 feet.

* TASER-Yellow coloration of the stock and fore-end of the shotgun for
immediate identification as a less-lethal system

* A ghost ring sighting system

* Collapsible tactical stock

It is my understanding that there is already a 12ga stabilized taser round that is already out there, which would make this kind of... well... not required. It has the benefit of reaching out past 50m(longer than the lead lines on an issue taser).

I don't see this one being a big seller. Two entirely different weapons systems. Shotgun = stand-off engagement, Taser = up close and personal. Why combine the two??!!

In the heat of the moment, and reverting to gross motor skills during high stress, I see that Taser getting ripped right off the picatinny rail when the shotgun is racked.

...next years show.....its the all new Barrett M82 with underslung MP5-PDW!

btw can someone please explain why they are putting what looks like ~24" barrels on these less lethal guns? (my extended mag Mossy had a 20" barrel that was flush with the mag)
do they really need that extra velocity or sighting plane when firing less lethal rubber slugs and beanbag rounds at protesters 15 yards away?
at most the barrel should end where the mag tube ends.

people need to watch that video i posted, and read about the hundreds of cases of 200lb+ police officers using grossly excessive force on 72 year old senior citizens, 15 year old girls, and various other non-threatening civilians and then ask themselves if we really need to be putting more tools like this in their hands.

It seems that Mossberg has switched their company philosophy to marketing answers to questions nobody asked. Things like huge brakes on .22's, pistol-grip shotguns with bipods, and some of the most God-awful stock configurations I've ever seen outside of competition guns (vis-a-vis the new fold-down forend/braked model being discussed elsewhere here on CGN).
