Looking at a Fox pro call...The ZR2 looks to be the cheapest model, and then the Spitfire is damn close. Is it worth the extra $150 to go with the FX3? This will be my first one but will spend the extra $ if its worth it. Looking for some feedback good and bad on these models.

I do not own either one, but I think for most of southern ontario, where farms are very close and bushes being relatively small compared to out west, a spit fire would be the way to go....some really good reviews from a few ontario hunters on some of the other forums....If I had to buy one it would be the spitfire for me.....

Make your own for a fraction of the price. It works just as well, it's just not as purdy. Google Varmint Al's. He's got the plans on his website. You can even make one with a remote. I made mine for less than 100 bones and that included a new MP3 player.

I just bought a FX3 and it works great, I'm not sure what the difference between models are, however I can give you what i know so far.
-The Fx3 has 32 program channels and I thought that was tons, but its just enough for me, it didn't take long to fill them with what i wanted.
-The volume I wouldn't want any lower its great to haveing the juice to call crows at the start then turn down as required and those windy days seem to kill the sound.
-haven't had a chance to test remote distance yet
overall works great clear sound and is a blast to scar friends with.

My FX3 remote works a bit past 200 yards. Have not tested it any further. You have to be able to see the caller or its general location though. I generally put it up on a bale or hang a few feet of the ground in a tree. Bateries give me trouble past minus 20ish.
Some spitfire observations:
The spitfire remote is good to about 125-150 yard if the unit is off the ground. If on the ground, considerably less. The speaker/sound quality is excellent. The volume is not quite as loud as I would like but its decent (hard to qualify it as I've never owned or used other foxpro units...foxpro says its the same as the 416 model if that helps). It has other jacks so you can add an external speaker if you need more volume. On the unit itself there is a toggle switch so you can pick what speaker you want to use. It also has a jack to control the jack in the box decoy using the spitfire remote. The unit is not at all waterproof. It can only play 24 sounds but the sounds are very easy to change around using your home computer and a patch cable to update the remote sound list (the unit uses a micro sd card that the owner has access to). The remote actually shows the title of the sound, not just a number. The remote has the following buttons.....sound select/power, volume up and down, mute, aux.

I love the FX3 but would like to have an FX5 just so I don't have to swap out sounds.
Speaking of which I would love to trade some sounds with anyone who wants to do a swap... anyone buying a new call, I could send you some sounds first and you could order a completely different set... I'll just burn em on a disk and send them in the mail.

Oh yes, Foxpro claims the FX3 remote in ideal conditions will work up to 500 yds or 700 (can't remember) but who really cares? 200 is more than enough. Definitely want the call visible, I have had issue with having trees or hills between me an the call.
I am thinking about camoing up a tripod for it too, much louder when off the ground.

Foxpro will upgrade your FX3 for 200 bucks USD. They are very good with that type of customer satisfaction stuff.
I know bout that is about 199 more than I can afford today.
Well, to be fair, I am pretty sure that Foxpro clearly says you can achieve "up to" (for example) 700 yards for the long range remote. We're talking the necessity of line of sight for a fairly low powered transmitter.
In any event, there are probably few situations where you need to be moving the caller any more than say 50 yards away from you. No point in putting it so far away that you can't see (or shoot) a predator that comes to investigate.

I had my Fury remote working at 500 yards and then I gave up, not exactly a clear line of sight, some houses and trees around. The caller was 5 feet off the ground. I was impressed.
I find that too far away myself, but i assume its to set the caller upwind 200 yards then hope the coyote trys to wind it between you and the caller.
