Hey all,
I am looking at adding an SKS to the collection and would like to know some things to look for when purchasing one. I'm looking at getting one from Lever in Vancouver for $200(Russian Refurb) and would like to know what to look for when choosing one. Cheers

Lever has two kinds....chrome bolts and bayonets and blue bolts and bayonets. Look for matching numbers and buy one of each....

Couple things, check for actual blueing and not painted barrel (outer), chrome bolt, check the bolt to ensure it doesn't have a ring around where the headstamp seats (firing pin) Take a light with you so you can see if the bore has any pitting. The three I got from there were all perfect bores so you should be fine. Check condition of wood.

Read all the SKS stickies on top of the Red Rifles sub-forum, go to all the links shown in the threads as well. Should tell you most if not all you need to know.

Lever Arms has a lot of SKSs to choose from.

If you know what to look for, and you are patient and nice to the staff, you can end up with a great find at a fabulous price...$350 bucks for the rifle and a case of ammo.
