Whats the reason, I would kill for one in .45

You mean combine an AR15 and .45ACP?
It can't be done, it's just way too much awesome in just one package.
Like the joke where Mr.T and Chuck Norris both go into the same bar at the same time.

This was a fantastic joke, I am still laughing about it and will likely laugh about it next year when I re-read this post in passing. But yes! I would love a shorty AR15 in .45acp. Who among thee can provide such a device? I will buy the first upper! Please PM as soon as it is available. :ar15:

They do.

Oly Arms, and the MGI-Military AR45. The problem is the lower needs to be wider to accept Grease Gun mags (the most common one). (you cant just put a mag well block in to make it work)

I was trying to mess around with getting one, but decided to go with a USC to UMP conversion instead.

in all fairness, there ARE better platforms for pistol cartridges than the ar - the only reason these exist is b/c the various gov'ts wanted a gun in a less powerful chambering but still having the same handling as the ar- with bullpups on the scene now, there's even less excuse for one- same with any sub gun- time has come and gone unless you need to put a lot of rounds into one spot, and even that is moot with a select fire bullpup

This is the next-best-even-better thing.

The Bushmaster .450 – big bore power in an “AR” platform…
http://www.bushmaster.com/catalog_xm15_BCWVMS20-45.asp

This powerful cartridge - developed in affiliation with Hornady - is tamed by the AR type gas operating system so that recoil is reduced to a heavy thump, and second shot control is retained. The Cartridge is adapted from a 6.5mm – .284 case with necking cut off to accommodate the 250 Grain Hornady SST Flex Tip .450 caliber bullet. AR type magazine boxes are utilized in the Bushmaster .450, and are fitted with a blue, single stack follower due to the diameter of the cartridge. With bullet velocity of 2200 fps, accuracy out to 200 yards is exceptional with stopping power ample to take any North American large game.

yeah but cant share ammo with my 1911

I wish anybody but Oly would make one as I refuse to buy anything made by them.

It would be one cool AR - 10.5" .45 if that would be done why not 10mm ;)

Read my post, MGI Arms has one. Although I think they use Oly barrels and bolts. They have their own proprietary lower with a built-in ejector.

Olympic arms is one of the few companies that I would avoid like the plague. The few I've seen seem to start falling apart pretty quickly.

Don't do it. They sucker you in with those pistol caliber carbines. These things are designed so they last only long enough for you to brag about how much fun etc they are. Shortly after they start to fall apart. :D
