Buying some 10mm brass, Was wondering the pros or cons of getting nickel cases instead of brass?? I will be running hot loads with them. Thanx

I should expect less life from my nickel cases then, Especially if running heavy loads? Does anyone else have any pros or cons??

I'll go along with Dan on case life, I have some Remington Nickel brass in 45 Colt, first firing mild loads, out of 50 rounds I had 6 split cases (split more than half it's length).

I have Starline and Winchester brass cases that are on 6-7 X fired and rarely get the odd one going bad.

I'll stick with straight brass from now on, No more Nickel plated for me.

Good to know, i was buying 1000 starline 10mm brass & didnt know which way to go. My buddy & me both shoot 10mm & we wanted to keep the brass separated, Not at the cost of brass life though!

I've reloaded nickel 38super 180+ PF until you literally couldn't read the headstamp. Never noticed them splitting any faster than non-nickel. Other times, it does seem to split a bit earlier. for instance, 38spl like Dan suggested. I think the amount of bell you put on the case has a big effect on nickel brass, more so than regular brass. I also wonder if the quality/lot/batch of brass under the nickel is not also a big factor in nickel case life.

Anyway, maybe you could split the order up and get yourself 900 regular and 100 "bling" to try out.;) They sure look purdy sometimes, especially if you include loaded ammo in pics of your 10mm. IF you're in to that sort of thing....

I dont have any grass where i shoot:). Im pretty good about keeping my brass, I shoot at the end against the wall, Then recover most. I just wanted a way to keep brass seperate when shooting with other 10mms.

- I have often joked that my 10mm spent casings exit the ejection port at speeds approaching the muzzle velocity.

I tried to load some nickel rounds with my lee 1000 and had a heck of a time trying. Not bashing my press but it was really hard, jamming up and took alot of force so i gave up and stuck with my brass.Maybe it's the lee carbide dies, not sure.

Overkill IMO. I use 20s in all my guns and my brass/guns are holding up fine.

As for Nickel brass I made mine into snap caps. 75 of them...

Overkill?

Maybe with target/plinking ammo.:)

Are you running full power 10mm loads with the 20 lb springs B?

If so, please elaborate.:D
