Remington Special Run?

The Mountain Guide model that they already do for Gander Mountain might be worth looking into Clay. Its basically a stainless action and barrel in a Ti stock,S/A only I believe.Because they are already running it for GM in the States you may be able to get it at a reasonable price.Cabela's was offering the same rifle in blue a couple of years ago. Mur

+1. Great thought Murray. That rifle in 7mm-08 would be hard to beat.

Rick,I think that model would sell up here.Having been in the business I know the main thing is not ordering the rifle in,it's selling them after they come in the door! I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade, but Clay has to sell the rifles he brings in ,which may mean they have to appeal to a slightly larger market than just us Gunnutz!Mur

My thoughts exactly. The gunnut in me immediately went to the Roberts, but then pragmatism said you had nailed it. I briefly had that exact rifle combo in 7mm-08 a couple of years back, it made the high dollar 7mm custom sitting beside it seem kinda silly.

How about a Rolling Block in .303 or .30-40 Krag with a sporter weight barrel and a Marble's tang sight?

So how does a ss 7mm-08 barreled action in a Ti stock stand out over a bunch of choices we already have? The Kimber Montana immediately jumps to mind.

Grab a Model 7 or SS SPS and drop it into a McMillan Hunter's Edge and you are done. Or?

EDIT - I think there are several cartridges that really are desireable, perhaps not to everyone, but to a large enough group that they would sell. Three examples are the .250 Savage, 7x57 and .300 H&H - and you don't really have many choices if you want a bolt action rifle in any of those chamberings. For the .250 Savage you have a pair of Savages and the new SA Cooper. What new bolt actions are available in the 7x57? The .300 H&H is basically limited to the CZ Express Rifle. I think a plain blue/wood rifle like a CDL in any of those three would sell.

The Mountain Guide was selling for about $550US the same as a McMillan stock alone shipped to Canada, while the last time I looked Kimber Montanas were about $1500.I think I'd pick up a .260 or 7-08 in a Mountain guide for about the same price as a SPS! Mur

Maybe a 700CDL stainless in a nice dark walnut, with the floorplate nicely engraved with a maple leaf. In a usefull moderate caliber, something like 270, 280AI, 7-08.

Well, I'm still thinking that a LSS MTN in 280AI would be pretty cool. It already comes in 280 so it should be a snap for Remington to put together. The other would be the 300H&H.....in a CDL or CDL SS...:DYup, CDL SS, now that would be neat.:dancingbanana:

I just checked Gander Mountain's web site and a basic SS SPS is US$549.99 so it seem odd that they could sell a regular 700 (not SPS) SS with a much more expensive stock for the same price. But if that is the case then I like the idea!

Another choice might be a Model Seven Mannlicher - not the very expensive Custom Shop rifle, but a plain Model Seven dropped into the Mannlicher stock. All the tooling is there and ready to go.

Please oh please no more Rem 700 LSS black/gray laminate rifles I don't need anymore...

Oh all right there is one other 700 LSS B/G laminate rifle I would buy a 6mm-284 with a 24" 1 - 10" twist rate barrel...
