Photo Album: Favorite milsurp aquisitions of 2009

This was one of my favorite acquisitions. Not a recent import either.

But this one does seem to take the cake.

Ahh there we go, very nice. Is she a RC, I see what looks like EP on the mag.

I wouldn't mind owning a G43 but they command a superior price and, with that post a few weeks back showing all probable G43s in Canada owned by one or two CGNers, :D, its going to be even harder to nail down a price.

Almost bang on there my friend! ;)

It is a Volkspolizei refurb. Has the original Durafol handguard (not bakelite), and all the waffenampts are still quite visible on her as well. Put a new spring set in it, and installed a new stainless steel Apfeltor Waffenfabrik gas piston in it too. Also, it now has an original sling on it and a couple of extra magazines.

In amazing condition, and a very desirable make, duv44.

Cheers! :)

I am really liking this P14 I got at the gun show in Dec. My 1st three shots out of it cloverleafed at 100 yards. The bore is really strong and the trigger is beautiful.

A Finn sniper? Please elaborate!

The wood is Finnish and the scope and mount are Soviet. Or am I just imagining the splice?

The rifle is a 1936 dated Izhvesk Soviet 91/30. The wood is spliced and Soviet I believe as well. The mount and PU scope are Soviet.

It was purchased as just the rifle, with the holes already drilled for the mount, but no mount. So I searched around for a Soviet mount, and walla, now have a nice mismatched Sniper.

Could've been drilled by someone long ago in Canada too, but I am not sure. Ruskie guns are not my area of expertise.

Oh I've only ever seen Finn wood spliced like that. The rifle isn't SA marked anywhere? Is there shellac on the wood because if it is an oil finish that would confirm quite definitely that it is Fin in origin...Does the buttplate serial match the receiver?

I will check and get back to you. I didn't think I saw any Suomi Armee markings on it, but I will look again.

Got around to cleaning my SKS and Kar98k today and happened to snap a shot of my Kar98k alongside my SKS. I'm proud to say I removed the Russian black paint off the bolt take down disc and recoil log and they are now in their original white finish. I also got a hold of a repro cleaning rod which fits perfectly and two lock screws that also fit perfectly with my trigger guard screws.
