Robinson Arms XCR in 223 ???

I was in at Reliable Gun in Vancouver yesterday and saw for the first time a Robinson Arms XCR (they have two brand new 223's in stock) they also had and I compared the XCR to a Swiss Arms and a HK SL8 that they also have in stock there.

I have messed around with both a Swiss Arms and the HK but had never seen or handled a XCR before, to say that I find it to be the best feeling/handling of these 3 non-restricted rifles is an understatement.

I have been wanting a fast handling non-restricted rifle for predator hunting and when I am in Alberta for gophers in the summer months.

Which brings me to my question...

Why should I or why shouldn't I buy an XCR? :D
 
i think you answered your own question in the initial thread.

basically you handled most of the non-restricted semi-auto fun guns available to us canadians at that shop and you liked the xcr the best, so go with it.

the only other option might be the tavor, it seems to get alot of good reviews, but it's even pricier.
 
They are all good rifles. Just go with the one that suits you......or if you're like me, which ever rifle you think would piss off a liberal the most. :)

I love the XCR, Tavor, Swiss Arms, and the H.K. I love internet forums. I love discussing guns, but I seriously cant take another "XCR - Is it better than the Tavor, Swiss Arms, and the H.K" thread.. There are three currently active threads almost the same. :(
 
The XCR seems to be a little more front heavy than the Ar's I have handled. That said, it's not something that causes me any problems even with offhand shooting.

Advantages; you can literally have the bolt and gas piston out of the gun in under 3 seconds, so cleaning is not at all onerous, tho' the piston system doesn't get dirty very quickly. Also, after you run a couple of hundred break-in rounds through it at the maximum gas setting, turn it down to the first setting and the recoil pretty much goes away, with the brass not spitting out too far either for those who reload.

I put an AR Ergo grip on mine because I liked the feel and use a Falcon Menace 1.5-5 x 30SIR because I have old eyes. Can easily hit anything I can see up to the limit of our 200m range.

All in all, quite happy with my XCR.
 
The only issue with the 7.62X39 rifle is that it is not a very good predator hunting round.

I do have over 2000 rounds of of 7.62X39 downstairs so someday if I get this rifle may buy the conversion as well.

I had been reading on CGNTZ that there are many that found it to be front heavy this did not even cross my mind it just felt right too me.

It is listed as weighing 7 1/2lbs and I would say that is very close.

Now I am a hunting rifle guy and this would be my first military style rifle in other words I'm used to aiming/shooting off hand 26" medium barrel contour rifles so this was very light too me.
 
How do you like the fixed stock? I was fondelling one the other day. It seemed like the stock was too short for me. Anybody else notice the same thing?

absolutely, my nose rubs on the beginning of the top rail, that's why i can't wait for NEA's stock adapter to arrive:)
 
I will say this for the XCR...it sure feels rock-solid. The Sig/SAN stuff is awesome but the stamped steel lower that wiggles on the upper doesn't have the same "single piece of billet" feel the XCR does.

Of course that doesn't actually necessarily translate into anything, but credit where credit is due...the XCR really does feel solid.
