Photo Album: Favorite milsurp aquisitions of 2009

What the hell is that last one, a record player?

It's a Russian DPM, a "modernised" DP-27 introduced in 1944. They re-positioned the recoil spring from under the barrel to the back of the receiver, added a pistol grip and strengthened the bi-pod.

Nice

Beautiful rifle. Ballpark, waht did that run you?

$800

I cringe when I think about it.. but all I've ever seen were really beat up 8mm Egyptians. The only thing wrong with mine is the finish on the metal parts is worn of in spots.

It's actually nicer in person. The stock is a much darker Walnut. The barrel is like a mirror, nice rifling... the guy I bought from had never shot it.

And it's heavy. 9.5 lbs!

2009 seems to have been the year of the Lee-Enfield for me...

Top to bottom:

1910 Enfield No. 1 Mk. III - N.Z. marked and converted to No. 2 Mk. IV*
1918 BSA No. 1 Mk. III* - Canadian-marked
1922 Lithgow No. 1 Mk. III* - (hopefully soon to be an EX-sporter)
1944 Long Branch No. 4 Mk. I* - RCMP-marked

...and while I know how 2010 will start off on the milsurp front, and I hope to have something to add to the January purchases thread soon, :D, I look forward to the adventure of finding out what else falls into the safe this year.

With pre-war, mid-war, inter-war and second war L-E's in hand, perhaps a post-'45 model might be required? Long Branch? Ishapore? Suggestions?

Added a few milsurps to the collection, amongst my favorites were the Type99 Arisaka matching and complete and the original DUV41 matching K98 rifle, both from great forum members here.

Unless you have 12-6 or a prohibited license, the only way is to have one modified to be legal in the restricted class or have it deactivated.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

BEAUTIFUL Arisaka! Do you giving me a ballpark price on them? I've always loved them but I'm really not sure on how much they're worth :(

I believe the class would be 12(2) or 12(3), which are full auto and converted full auto. Either one will not allow you to actually do anything with the gun, you cannot get an ATT for these ones.

I'm going from memory on the classes, please correct them if I got crossed up.

I think we are both in the same court as far as regulations go. I never did dive deep in the prohibited class related stuff as I can never get into that class.

Wish I could...Lugers galore!

how can i purchase a wwII sten lequaly

Unless you are "grand fathered" which means you owned a firearm of the same class (either converted auto or full auto in case of a sten) before the ban, you can't. The only prohibited status that can currently be gained by non-grandfathered individuals is the 12-7 class, which is granted to people who inherited 12-6 class (prohib pistol) firearms from a direct relative.

All other prohib classes must be either deactivated or destroyed, or if lucky donated to musium.

So unfortunately, unless we can get the laws changed to at least allow the Converted or full autos to be passed down, in 30 or so years very few functional stens, FAL's, ect will be left in Canada.
