Norinco 9mm handguns

I am in the market for a handgun. Looking at the price and NORINCO seems to be a good price for a starter. MARSTAR.COM has a series of them. Basically taking it the range. Any recommendations?
 
Sounds like we are thinking the same here!----my plan is as follows:
Buy a semi-auto pistol in .22 caliber to practice with and be able to spend a decent time at the range without trading my house or truck for ammo.
And a wheel gun chambered for .357 mag ( you can shoot .38 special too) so I can get the " make things go BANG " addiction covered too---I am thinking a GP 100 or maybe " the judge" by Taurus.

I read an article in January's Guns&Ammo on Para USA's GI Expert that they are touting as a no frills, get the job done at a low price 1911----it looks like a pretty ###y pistol.
 
I have an M201C, the Tokarev clone.
It's pretty basic, kinda rough but it shoots great and is simple to operate.
For $199.00 you really can't go wrong.
Lever Arms has spare mags @ $15 each.

I have an NP-34. Eats everything I have fed it so far (~900 rounds at the moment), decent SA trigger, heavy DA trigger (it has improved significantly with use, though). Overall quality is good, fit and finish is OK, but you won't mistake it for a SIG any day soon. Certainly adequate for my uses. The stock grips suck, mine were replaced by a set of Hogue rubber ones (no finger grooves, I have small hands) and they are a vast improvement.

I would say it is a good value as a cheap(ish) range gun.

It's perfect to start with you cant beat the prices, I did a bad move by spending 500$ for a old p38 post war as a first..A year later ..Now I'm shopping for a beretta 92f :D
 
I have at least one of most of the Norinco clones. The 1911, Sig and CZ are excellent guns. Like most new pistols, they needed a trigger job (except the SIG). All are quite accurate. In fact, they are as accurate as the real deal, just not quite as well finished.

If you reload, any of them is a good choice. If not, buy the CZ clone in 9mm. I say the CZ becasue it is all steel(heavier) and easier to shoot. The grips suck. Change over to Hogue.

Me too. Bought a an extra; why? Because its a cheap and fairly cool gun, why not have an extra? I've set mine up with 7.62 barrels and clips as an fun and cheaper alternative.

If I may play devil's advocate, I'd suggest picking up either a surplus Tokarev or perhaps of of the Walther P1's that are avalable. The Tokarevs are a real piece of history and are priced at around $200. Ammo for them packs a punch and can be purchased cheaply by the crate. The P1 is in 9mm and runs around the $300 mark
