Photo Album: Favorite milsurp aquisitions of 2009

On the Sten issue.

There were a few guys on this board who legally built restricted semi auto Stens a few years back. A hell of a lot of work and money.

So there might be less than 10 of these in Canada and the price will be very high. Try Astor arms in QC and get one of his semi auto machine pistols.

Some very nice rifles in this thread...

Here's my favourite aquisition of '09:

Unless you are "grand fathered" which means you owned a firearm of the same class (either converted auto or full auto in case of a sten) before the ban, you can't. The only prohibited status that can currently be gained by non-grandfathered individuals is the 12-7 class, which is granted to people who inherited 12-6 class (prohib pistol) firearms from a direct relative.

All other prohib classes must be either deactivated or destroyed, or if lucky donated to musium.

So unfortunately, unless we can get the laws changed to at least allow the Converted or full autos to be passed down, in 30 or so years very few functional stens, FAL's, ect will be left in Canada.

Thanks to ######## sten guns should be around for a lot longer than 30 or so years, they sell open bolt stens to anyone with a permit. They are in effect the same as converted autos but can be legally owned by anyone with a restricted or even a non restricted PAL . Unlike converted autos they can be taken to the range. They sell most every type of sten you can think of and a few unique ones.

Might I inquire as to where you were able to locate that nifty little device? :)

I need a lighter trigger pull on mine too! ;)

The trigger on mine is actually fine. I've heard they can be quite stiff, but mine is as easy to pull as any rifle.

I picked up the winter trigger just for something fun to try, and something to display the rifle with. I'll give your username to the fellow on these boards who I got it from.

If that were mine it would be my favourite of all time. I know I should not really ask but how much would I have to save to buy an MG 34 as nice as that ?

What have you got? We'll start the bidding at a SIG PE90 or a RobArms XCR and go from there... I need something to put in the fav's of 2010 thread ;)

I think one just went for $5500 in the E/E, and that was one with Yugo repainted drums, not original German ones...

That's really cool... Is it the bd38? Where's the drum mag come from?

Also, how do you find it to shoot, accuracy and handling wise?

It's a ######## MK2 rotary mag sten, not mine unfortunately but I have shot it. It's better balanced than a sten so the accuracy should be better, I did not shoot it enough to get a good comparison, just tin cans at 25 yards. It's a suomi drum.
