just looking for your opinion would you buy modern Russian rifles made by Izhmash (same factory that makes AKs) beside AKs, SVDs, Tigers, Saigas they make many hunting (Los, Bars, Korshun, Sobol) and sporting(Biathlon, CM, Record) rifles both bolt action and semi-autos...if there is an interest I can try to bring them in...thanks

It would have to excell in quality and accuracy at the right price, as simply cheap rifles are already readily available from Savage, Stevens, Marlin, Norinco, etc. If it could be like a CZ is to rimfires, then I'd be interested. If its just a crude centrefire rifle for $350.00, no thanks.

I don't know who Randy D. Smith is but here is what google brought on my BARS 4-1 search:

Seems he likes it...

That .223 might be nice,

If it is in the price range of the Norinco that might be a bonus. I have only ever had a Baikal single-shot 12ga but it seems that the Russian guns are rough, tank-like but waaaaayyyy better than the Chinese offerings, so if they cost roughly the same in the budget category, perhaps a good deal?

For $800 they would need to be at least as good as a CZ527 to compete.

I would be very interested in something like this but for $800, I wouldn't even consider it. There are tons of great rifles in that price range, pretty much every major brand. I was thinking maybe $500.

If I were spending $800 I would go with one that has simple Canadian warranty service, proven in the Canadian market and relatively available parts and accessories, Tikka, Winchester, Browning, Remington, Stevens, Savage etc.

That 9-1 has quite the scope mount on it, you'd have to have a neck like a giraffe to use it. Apart from that not a bad looking rifle. It's a tall order for a company to move from military production to sporting arms for discriminating North American shooters, probably the fussiest in the world.

I've been considering a 9.3x64 brenneke for awhile. Not alot of options in factory rifles, I'd give it a go at a decent price. Unfortunately I would have to see one to determine a "decent price".

I have the Los-7 (308) and the Sobol (.22). They are both very accurate and reliable.

I would not mind a Los-9 and a Korshun.

What would interst me the most would be a Record that looks like an SV-98.
