I didn't realise that the m40a1 style could come as an Edge...
I believe anything but the Ruger stuff can be done in graphite.
Standard fill would still likely drop 1/2 lb off your rifle, but maybe not enough weight/$$ ratio for you.
I'll buy one for all my rifles from now on, unless the factory ones get better...standard fill with swirly finish dropped 8 oz off my 700 XCR, painted finish is even lighter...

OOOh, that's neat. Would you tell me what it weights....What contour barrel have you got in there? I read that the HTG stock is best with heavier barrels, not so with lighter contours. Thanks
It is a #5 Krieger SS w/ 10 flutes. Stiller TAC 30 action, HS bottom metal, Timney ceramic coated trigger and topped with 20MOA rail and Leupold 4.5-14 Tactical. All up 9.5lbs. I think a #4 contour is as light as I would go with that stock.
It is beautiful. The cartridge is a sweetheart (6.5x47 Lapua).

No belt, more down, easier to load for, no case stretch. Hows that?
I've loaded plenty cartridges with a belt and without. I've yet to see how the "no belt" version is an advantage.
You're right, but most never empty the magazine either way.
How so? The 7Mag was one of the very first cases I loaded for. I found it quite easy to load for and less hassle than fireforming the AI version of the 280.
Good point, but 7Mag brass is cheap and easy to find. The overall extra cost of the 280 AI dies and fireforming would buy the shooter quite a bit of 7Mag brass.
