Super trophy.

Not to rain on his parade, but I am not very impressed by 5 shot groups. I do not regard them as statiscaly significant.

In testing rifles and ammo I shoot 10 shot groups, and have seen some spectacular first 5 shot groups open up to ordinary 10 shot groups. How the group forms, and where the first 5 go is random.

A rifle or a batch of ammo is not "good" unless it can shoot good 10 shot groups consistantly.

I know we all shoot a half inch group and claim to have a half inch gun. the truth is we shot a half inch group. period. it might be a 1 inch gun.

I am sure you can do better of course, I don't see your name on the trophy.

True, I like 10 shot groups as well to really see what the ammo will do. But hell if I got a 5 shot group like that at 1000 yards I'd stop right there! LOL :D

I have read that 7 shot groups are the best ( ie most economical and yet statistically valid ) way to check accuracy. Nevertheless I believe 5 shot groups can provide an equally valid measure of ammo, rifle and shooter providing several groups are shot and the mean average is repeatable ( ie no 'one group wonder' represented as being the standard ).
