Izhmash hunting and sporting rifles. Intersted?

I own a LOS 7-1. It is as accurate as a target rifle. The trigger is 2-stage,fully adjustable, and breaks clean. I left mine as set at the factory. The barrel is chrome-lined and floated. The exterior metal is coated with some kind of black industrial coating - keep acetone away from it. The action is pillar and glass bedded. The wood is nothing special. The accuracy is consistent, and very, very good.
 
I heard they went bankrupt???

We have a hell of a time finding biathlon rifles for the club and recently bought two Anchutzs with Fortner bolts for an arm and a leg.

More Ismashes would be great. I think they are Biathlon-7-3?

their bankruptcy is similar to GM story...

Official classifications as follows:

Biathlon 7-2 KO - hunting carbine
Biathlon 7-3 - for juniors and/or ladies
Biathlon 7-3 Cadet - for youngsters under 15
Biathlon 7-4 - for men

We have received a shipment of Izhmash Biathlon rifles
 
800+ is going to be pretty tough. In that price range, there already exists some fantastic, well proven, reliable rifles. Honestly, I would rather have a nicely finished CZ with a SST then a clunky Russian gun. Not that the Russian guns aren't well built or reliable, but they probably aren't 800$ guns.

CZ doesn't make Biathlon rifles. And they are not $800, they are $1850. Beside IZMASH there is one more manufacturer ANSCHÜTZ who produce rifles for Biathlon
 
hard to say... depends on the number of rifles to be imported, exchange rate, border hassles, etc., very roughly $800+ for the less expensive model

That's why we never imported them. :D If there is no interest for Russian hunting rifles there is no point to import them. We brought Biathlon instead.
 
Yup sorry I agree TeaPot2, the biathlon rifles are rumoured to be fantastic. I think the hunting rifles would probably not be a good idea. I realize it isn't your fault regarding the cost, I know it is expensive to get them here and so on. When you look at your projected prices on the Russian hunting rifles, I have to say that there isn't likely a good business case to bring them here.
 
Hunting rifles are not bad also. But you are right they priced (at the factory gates) way out of competition...At the same time in Russia itself they are very competitive because all import including CZ is more expensive due to Russian taxes and customs duties. I tried to bring up this point, but they didn't listen. They probably would if I'd buy thousands rifles, but there is no such market in Canada...
 
if you started bringing in the izmash rimfire rifles both the sobo and cm2 series you would find many takers including myself as many biathalon and target clubs are hanging on to the ones they got and wishing they had a source for more you could have something here otherwis they have to be bought in the USA and imported
