Hi there, new to the forums. I'm trying to get some help in identifying a rifle that has been given to me. The family history says it's from my wife's great uncle, and that he used it in WW2 and brought it back from Germany. Upong hearing this, i figured it'd be a Mauser, but once given to me, it's clearly a Mk III. However, besides the standard LE stamp on the reciever, there are no other markings anywhere at all on the rifle. Unfortunately, i have no info either as to what unit the gentleman bleonged to, besides being Canadian.

Is there any history of these minimally marker rifles being used?

Thanks

I'm not an expert on LEs but there should be date, model, and manufacture stamp on the right wrist (where the butt stock meets the end of the stock), muzzle forward.

If you can, try taking some pictures and posting them. I, as I am sure others, would be interested in seeing your LE.
