I tried out some Varget loads this weekend and was dissapointed by the numbers. Max load of 35gr starting to show pressure signs and only 2850 fps. I have some h4895 and h4350 I am going to try. It's a 26" barrel so I am wondering if H1000 would be worth a try or maybe H4831. What say you? My friends keep making fun of my poor little .243. I want to prove to them that it is a good little calibre.

39.5 of Varget will put you at max pressure and be running around 3100 fps with 90% case filled. 59,155 psi

Of course work your loads up checking for signs of over pressure.

43.5 of H4350 should push you up around 3200 fps with 97% fill rate. 59,738 psi

With a long bullet like that, more velocity is good.

Varget would be a good powder for a 60 grain bullet. Seems too fast for the long heavy bullet. For the 95, go with the powder that gets you a full case. i don't know how much of the bullet is in the neck, or even lower, but 4350 is the fastest powder i would choose. H4831 would be real good if you have room for it.

Varget is too fast-burning for 90 grain bullets in a 243. In a small case like a 6BR YES, in fact 3100 is easily achieved with about 32 grains of Varget.

4350, 4831, RL 17/19 are way better choices
