Canadian Arsenal marks

- C Broad-Arrow is a Canadian Government Property Mark, not an Arsenal Mark.

- Intertwined LB is the Long Branch Arsenal Mark, later changed to CA for Canadian Arsenal Limited.

Early Property Marks were DC (Dominion of Canada) and later M & D (Militia and Defence).

-C-Broad Arrow started before WW1 and was replaced around the Korean War era by a DND stylized arrow.

C broad arrow

The C broad arrow was introduced in 1907 and discontinued some time around 1949, although there are many examples of kit that used the mark up to at least 1954.

Just to add for 1907 bayonets, Canada didn't make any. In WWI only the Auzzies and the Brits made them, so, if its WWI dated and doesn't have the Auzzie star, its British. However, the Canadians brought them home in WWI, so some of them may also have a C/|\ on it. Without the C/|\ and/or without provenance, its a Brit bayo. The C/|\ would normally be placed on the pommel.

Actually, during WW1 1907 bayonets were also produced in India and also under contract by Remington Arms in the USA.

Lots of Good info there Guy's I just bought a NICE BRITISH ENFIELD 1907 MK111 SWORD BAYONET-Canada ! C/|\ on the pommel. I guess I'll have to find a rifle to go on it now. ;) Jack
