Hey guys, for some reason I am having a hard time finding 25-06 brass but 270 brass is readily available. Is it a simple matter of running the 270 brass through the full length resizer and then I'm ready to go? Thanks in advance!

Heck yeh! I used to go from 308win to 243win; just had to be careful to adjust my loads as the neck became much thicker (I think the neck area of the chamber in that particular rifle was over-sized). .277 to .257 is a walk in the park.

Necking down from .277 to .257 hasn't been a problem for me regarding neck thickening. When going from 30-06 down it was sometimes necessary to use an inside neck reamer to thin the necks down. It pays to be careful with a good inside chamfer for the first few times and to make sure the loaded rounds will chamber easily.
The worst problem is failure to trim the sized down brass because the 270 brass is longer than the 25-06. 30-06 is the same length, but the thickened neck might be something to need attention depending on the make (weight) of the parent case.

25-06

Have reloaded 25-06 got about 20 years in early days brass was hard to find
took 30-06 formed to 270
took 270 formed to 25-06
lots of trimming etc

have really interesting 25-06 loads headstamped 30-06& 270 win

fun with people who just finish the Pal tests and are at the range wanting to shoot takes a while to explain but is a good learning experiance

Just size and trim. I have necked down some RP .30-06 brass to .25-06 without requiring neck turning. If you're using Fed brass you may have to turn the necks, though.

I actually prefer using 270 brass for the 25 06. That way, after sizing, I can trim to fit my chamber. I find that the factory stuff is a little short for my liking.
