Been having thoughts on aquiring a Ruger 10/22.... again. The last one I had was about a year and a 1/2 ago. It was the stainless synthetic with two Butler Creek steel lipped 25 shot clips and was primarily my gopher gun. It was a great little number until the thing jammed up every now and then. I sold it out of pure frustration. I was wondering what the alternative is to a higher capacity clip that won't cause the thing to jam up and why buddy at the gun store told me that the synthetic stock is superior to the birch stock?? I can't stand plastic. Makes the peice look cheap. Any thoughts on this subject guys & gals?

Stick a VQ extracter in it and run the gun dry(no lube) ,clean every 300-500 rounds and that probly would have had a most if not all your problems beet with it . I like wood over synthetic, Put in a VQ hammer and a bolt buffer and you are set :)

Because he's an idiot.

Alternative to high capacity magazine would be the factory 10rds which function flawlessly.
Although I don't exactly know what you mean by 'jamming up.' Failure to feed? Eject? other?

I'm thinking that the extractor couldn't keep time?? or that the 25 shot clips just suck. At any rate, it was a banner day for collecting rodent tails. Over 500 :D:D. Hence the need for 25 shot clips. Any suggestions for an alternative to Bulter Creek 25 shot clips?

were they steel lip's or plastic. never had a problem with steel lip's, but the plastic
did the same thing with mine. really pisses you off when your gopher shootin.

TI-25 magazines , or maybe those Promag ones....:dancingbanana:

You're just .....but most probably correct!......:D

Had very similar problems with mine; lots of stovepipes. I finally realized that the extractor claw was getting pretty worn, replaced it with a Volqy, and lo and behold no more problem. I clean the thing from time to time and lube veeery sparingly and it's been fine ever since.
