Happy "pre" birthday JW!
Just food for thought...If your going to spend the bucks on a nice rifle...don't leave out Weatherby.
Enjoy whatever you do decide on!

Oh ya....
For my 40th I bought the car in my avatar! :D

I fondled a couple of Coopers the other day and they are really nice. I've been wanting a rifle in 17 Fireball and will have to see how this year goes. Maybe I'll have one by fall.

Seems to me that Profit Rivers Anschutz pricing is the best in Canada, a Weatherby is an Annie with upgraded wood. Kimbers will be very tough to find esp. unfired. Coopers ,I think are your best bet. I have a couple. FS

Tough choice, but...

Like you, wanted to treat myself so bought a Kimber SVT before Kimber quit making 22lr. Shoots like a dream! Some stores may still have new ones in stock in Canada. I have heard of but never held a Cooper. I did look at the Weatherby but did not like the tactical bolt knob on a "fine" gun and it did not fit/feel as nice as the Kimber. Up to you. Enjoy whatever you get!

If your willing to go to the cost level of a Cooper your really should look beyond the 64 actioned Anschutz to the better 54 action. It really is a much better piece and worth the additional price.
Prophet River can order one in for you, last I checked for similar money to the Jackson Squirrel rifle.
The Anschutz wood might not be as pretty, but you won't find a better shooter outside of a custom BR gun.

As an aside, Stiller will be making a 40x clone action this year. If you wanted to go all-out on a custom sporter that would be a great way to start.

Prophet River has very nice Coopers for what you are buying, the problem I have is I want all the high end options and it would cost at least $3600 for my Cooper. There is so little high end 22rf to buy from anymore that your very limited in choice, if your lucky you could find a Mint rimfire from yesteryear, but doubtful. And please don't by a new Browning T-Bolt if you ever handled an original it will leave you feeling sick! But they are great shooters just not the same hand built guns from Belgium. If you like a semi try to locate an old Weatherby clip fed made in Itally their gorgeous and accurrate. In the End buy a Cooper from Clay and you will never regret it. good luck Dale in T-Bay:agree:

Thanks for the tips guys,I have a few months to do some more research and I wish I could find a place close to me too handle some of these fine rifles(minus the t bolt they are easy to find).
