Hoping someone can answer some questions regarding buffer pads for the Star PD.
I have an older one imported by Garcia Corp. It has the captive recoil spring / guide rod assembly. There was no buffer pad in it when I got it and I have only shot it once with light target loads with lead bullets (same as used in my Gold Cup) to sight it in. It was amazingly accurate. Now I have been told that I should not shoot it without buffer pads due to the alloy frame and steel slide. Does anybody know if these older models of PDs came with buffer pads?
I managed to get a couple buffer pads and they will not fit on the end of my guide rod / recoil spring assembly next to the frame. There just isn't enough room and the back of the rod is too big to fit the cutout in the buffer.
I figured it was important to have buffs in there to absorb recoil when dealing with an alloy frame. I put a buff in my S&W 39 for that very reason even though I rarely shoot it and again only use light loads in it. BTW, it is not really accurate at all.
Anybody know aout this? Thanks in advance - much appreciated.
