I have just spent the better part of an hour trying to bang the pins from left to right out of the front sight tower to remove it from the barrel. They initially moved about .200" but now they won't budge. I have let them soak in WD40 and moved from the recommended 4oz hammer to a BFH still won't budge. What's next?

Thanks.

If you mean left to right looking from the rear of the gun, then that's correct.

Tapping the pins won't do bupkiss. You have to beat on them assertively with a proper punch over a solid surface. They don't come out that easily. Especially if they're not tapered. Soaking them isn't going to do much either.

Pins and sights are always removed left to right .

The exception is Stag / S&W. They put their pins ins "backwards" from everyone else

Google "Stage taper pins" and lots of info on this

Suprised you managed to budge them that far !

BTW - I always measure both sides when I am driving out any pin (gas block, FSB etc

As said above, Stag, to be different than Colt, go the opposite way.

I'm surprised you made them budge too!

Measuring both sides is always a good idea.

Zulumike, if your taper pins have been destroyed, let me know please and we'll mail out a fresh set.

I got a similar question.... I have a Bushmaster with a fixed (pinned) flash suppressor. How do get this thing off? I have been able to get the pin out but I still can get the flash supressor off. any sugestions?
