I called DLASK today to buy a coupler for my LAR-15 mags and they wanted $25shipped to my door. Are the metal couplers that much better than the cheaper plastic versions? I think the plastic ones are around $10shipped to my door.
You need to ask whether metal is better than plastic? Unless its made from Glock plastic, I'd forkout for the metal
No I asked if they were that much better. I can get 3 plastic ones for the price of 1 metal one. I am going with the plastic ones.
Have to wonder, just recieved some of the plastic ones in the mail, one tab was already broken off on one of them. It still works but just wondering how long they will last?
Untill you do a 3 gun on an indoor range with a concrete floor![]()
There are no 3-guns near me.Running through the woods like a lunatic is the closest I could get around my house.
I have both and prefer the aluminum ones. But the plastic are a good value.
Since the price dropped on the aluminum ones, I think they are a good deal now, too. If you drop the mags coupled with the plastic wedges (even on carpet as I found), they can come apart. But the aluminum ones have a retaining screw so the mags don't work their way off the coupler.
not a big fan of dump pouches. They bounce around too much, and then there's that 'twinkie wrapper, twinkie wrapper, 1911 mag, partial ar mag' thing.
I'm trying to understand how these things are worthwhile, other than the LCF. I'm pretty sure I can reliably do my first mag change quicker from a Redi-Mod than trying to invert one of these coupled mags. Other than that, the thought of dumping my empty coupled mag feed-lips down into the dirt or onto concrete doesn't give me a warm feeling. Part of the reason I like Ranger baseplates on my mags is the cushioning they provide when I dump mags. I can't see how dropping them on their feedlips is going to do any good for anything other than Questars bottom line.
The link shows original magpuls, not the ranger baseplates. The magpul slips over the mag body, but there is not enough of the LAR projecting out of the magwell to allow these to fit properly. The ranger baseplates work, but you have to take some material off of the bottom of the followers, or they only allow 9 rounds into the mag.
