Benelli M4 the good and bad

Yes the factory Benelli LOP is ridiculous to most people.

The M4 tele stock in its mid position is pretty much perfect at about 12.5"



you CAN however cut the Benelli solid stocks down. There are some how-to tutotials on ARFcom, but essentially you cut it down to the length you want, use a belt sander, or a flat sheet of sand paper on a flat surface (AKA mirror or something) to sand it flat and level, then fill the top and bottom areas with some sort of bondo type stuff, and drill 2 holes for a "grind to fit" buttstock (the kind that you use a belt sander to cut down to the shape of the stock)

If you're not super crafty and dont want to mess with it, you can probably get a local gunsmith to do it no problem.


I dont think the tele stocks have been discontinued, they aren't usually for sale in the USA anymore due to import regs, but they should be obtainable in Canada. They will be pricey tho, so an M4 with the tele stock already on would be much cheaper.
 
Prophet sells the M4 solid for $1850.00.

Any idea what the tele stock version will go for?
 
Im surprised no one mentioned the worst thing...
The mag-tube is restricted to 4+1 in Canada (although it is capable of 8+1).

Pull the spring retainer clip outta the end of the mag tube and 5 rounds will fit.

'Ghost load a round on the carrier and with one in the chamber and you'll have a max cap. of 7rounds.

There are also sold in the US in that config.

The whole "sporting use" thing came into play for these guns to be imported.

That said... Most guys install a full length 7 shot mag tube and take their chances with 922r.

Anywhere between $2000-$2250, Mesa Tactical just announced a solid 12.5" LOP pistol grip stock, which should be nice but expensive.

Anyways it's too but the M4 wasn't just a few hundred cheaper, it just seems excessively costly for an item that's so readily available in our market.
 
Ive always liked pumps, that what i was trained on.

I dont know much about the m4super90 other than its cool and costs $2000..

Can it cycle cheep winchester and fedral 7 1/2 shot and lighter birdshot loads, the walmart stuff?

Seems to be able to, once it's broken in at least.

I don't own an M4 but I have to say that once you've experienced any good semi it's hard to go back to pumps. The problem of course is that good semis are both expensive and a relatively new thing.

The day I picked up my M4 I took it to the range to test it with a variety of ammo.. Everything from handloaded powder-puff girly trap loads to 00buck to 1650fps slugs...

Functioned with everything...
 
I've always been able to fit 5 2-3/4 inch shells in mine just fine.

When they say 4+1 on the Benelli website, they are counting the longest shells it is chambered to fire (3" shells)

The retainer clip is still in mine, and I have always been able to fit 5 2-3/4" shells just fine...


The factory M4s90 with full tube will fit 7 2-3/4 inch shells, plus one in the chamber, and one in the shell lifter, although that will usually double your load time.

Hi. I was trained on pumps too. Once you work an M4, I have a hunch you'll never think of something like model 870's again <g>. Absolutely love mine. I just use 00 buck and slugs in mine, but others have pointed out they cycle anything after a bit of use.

My only caution to you is this: After you use it a bit (maybe as many as one or two rounds), you'll have a really tough time wiping the grin off your face :D
