Benelli M4 the good and bad

How much recoil does the M4 soak up? I wouldn't expect Remington 1100 grade dampening here but I would hope that they are softer shooting than the inertial guns?

A lot compared to my friends Mossberg 500

3" magnums were almost unbearable in the 500, whereas the M4s90 I shot 15 3" magnums to zero it, and could have done double that no sweat. The 3" still have pretty good kick but its not bad at all.

with the 2-3/4" shells, its no contest, you can fire those things all day long with no problems! the low brass training rounds feel not much worse than a .223 round.

.308 win is actually worse than the low brass target shells.

Thanks, good to know, I'm not exactly afraid of recoil but I worry about the cumulative long term effects when shooting heavy loads like I usually do.

No problem!

Getting a stock thats a proper fit to you helps a lot too. The tele stock with the factory cheek piece beat up my cheek a lot in the mid-position, so I made my own low-profile cheek piece out of fibreglass cloth and epoxy, and its far better. It feels a lot better when the stock is a bit shorter too (12.5" LOP in the mid position) rather than it being way the heck out there :p
