My Beretta M9 (92) feels litlle too fat in my hand, didn't think this to be a problem as I have fairly big hands, and as a result I tand to get tired too fast when shooting M9,. Ruger P944 feels much better in my hand, it has a leaner handle, and I love to shoot it and shoot it lot more than M9.
Tried today SIG P226 22LR it has just a little smaller handle than M9 but still fat, ordered it today from EE and if it proves to be uncomfortable to shoot it'll be big dissapointment since I always longed for SIG.
So which pistoles out there are that fit my need of leaner handle?

I also like how Nornico M1911 and Ruger Mk1 fit in my hand.

Cheers.

I think the CZ 75B has a pretty slim grip compared to the 92. Browning High Power maybe? The 1911 has a very nice grip, I actually made new wood panels for my Norinco and made them a little larger then the stock ones, not to large or small.

The CZ is more what I would consider a medium sized grip. If chaslavk finds the P226 grip to be iffy then the CZ won't be any better.

The single stack 1911 has the thinnest grip of any semi pistol you can get in Canada from what I've seen and held.

But it's not just about grip size. The reach to the trigger plays just as big a part in the tory as the grip size. So it's not as clear cut as you may think

If you want a Sig, try the SP 2022. I have one in 40 and fine it really comfortable to shoot. Comes with interchangable grips and is lighter on the wallet than a 226.

Search

I was on a search for a handgun to fit my wife. She loves to shoot but always complained about my handgun being too big for her. We finally found one, the S&W M&P, it comes with three grip sizes. That pistol comes in lots of calibers also, win, win. She tried the 1911 and said that she could shoot it. So if that meant it fit, or she wanted to try it? Don't know. Try the M&P.

I I wouldn't get it if you don't like fat grips. I have no problem with my 92FS but I find the SigPro way too fat and uncomfortable for me.

I also have a CZ 75 and a 1911 (Taurus), PT1911 comes with slip grips so it felt WAY too skinny in my medium sized hand so I replaced them with thicker ones and added a wraparound insert. Feels much better! Now the CZ (with the rubber grip) is probably the most comfortable gun I've ever handled - love the ergonomics of it. Another great gun with great ergonomics is M&P I used a small insert when I had mine.... you mentioned SIG I used to have a P226 and it fit my hand quite well too. Wasn't a huge fan of the plastic grips but keep in mind that once you replace them with Houge rubber it becomes as big as the Beretta, add wood grips and it's even bigger!

So I was wondering what kind of grips your Beretta has? If it's rubber I know plastic once are smaller and you can also get slim aluminum grips for it. 92 is a great gun and there are things you can do to make it fit you better.

The Beretta 92 has a long reach combined with the fat grip for the first DA shot, after that its much better on single action. So even if you hands are large, the length of your fingers is also a factor.

You might like the CZ 75 series of guns with the aluminum grips, very thin. I cannot use the CZ without these grips as the reach is too long.

The Browning HP is another favorite of mine, excellent ergonomics especially with the ambi safety they put on the newer guns.

A lot of people like the S&W M&P autos because of the changeable backstraps, you might like these also.

The 1911 is a perennial favorite, it fits most people well.

funny how nobody's mentioned the tok yet- even with the factory grips, she's still thinner than my 1911 by a long shot

Sig P226 is similar to CZ75 in grip size, IMO. They are both metal frame + double stack metal magazine + grip panels.

To find smaller grips, you can either try guns with polymer frames + metal double stack magazines, or single stack guns such as 1911, TT33 or HK P7.

My CZ 75 has Hogue cocobolo grips on it. They are much slimmer than the factory plastic grips and the grip width is comparable to a single stack 1911.

The Browning High Power is another good choice with a slim grip.

BCRider, good point on the triger, I don't have problem with the reach on my Beretta M9, but with the positioning of my finger on the trigger. If I simply extend the finger it then seats high on the trigger. So I have to unnaturally force finger down on the middle of the trigger and that then adversly affects accuracy. I keep pulling gun to the side.

+1 on both 1911 & CZ. I have an STI Trojan and a Shadow. True, the Shadow is slightly wider with standard rubber grips, but in my case it fits me even better than the Trojan. My paws are size 6 so I doubt yours are smaller than that. Besides, you can always go to slim grips on the CZ as others said.

If you want a revolver... Get a GP100, them a set of Eagle "secret service" grips.
BTW, I happen to have a set for sale. Tiny, ###y and feel "ooh so good!"
