I've heard conflicting reports about that.
Some footage of it would be great.
Modifying a pistol mag to fit a rifle is a bad idea and would likely constitute an offence.I used to have the P22 pistol to match. The mag body is pretty much identical but the base plate is different. I don't know if a slightly modified P22 mag would work.
Thank klrklr for keeping us posted on what the RCMP says about it. I am eagerly awaiting hopefully good news.

MODIFYING a mag so that it will fit in a rifle is manufacturing a prohibited device. After you modify it, it isn't a magazine designed and manufactured for use in a handgun, it's now a rifle magazine because that's why you modified it - for use in a rifle. With P22/G22 mags it's not an issue because they're rimfire and rimfire rifle mags are uncontrolled. However, modifying, say, a USP45 mag to fit in a USC is 100% illegal.Say WHAT?
Seriously...people...PLEASE make an effort to actually KNOW the laws before councilling others.
You can use a pistol mag in a rifle....modified or no. Just make sure that you don't exceed max capicity for the handgun mag (10 rounds).
Ok, I see what you're saying now. What I meant was "if you modify a >5rd pistol mag to fit in a rifle, without capping it to 5 in the process, you are creating a prohibited rifle mag", which is exactly what you're saying. I thought it was implied when you say "modify a mag" that you mean "modify such that it holds more than it's legal capacity" because why else would you even care?^^^^No. If you stay within rifle capacity limits (5 centerfire, 10 rimfire), it doesn't matter WHAT the mag was....feel free to look for the legislation if you'd like
In your example, you COULD modify the USP mag...however, it must be capped at the limit for RIFLES, so 5 rounds. The modification has nothing to do with it. Hell, you "modify" a mag every time you plug it to legal capacity. Wanna get really technical? You can modify a centerfire rifle to take pistol mags, and you are good to go at 10 rounds as long as the mags arent modded...just the gun.
Because I didn't realize we were talking about rimfires...And just out of curiousity...if you knew about the rimfire exemption, why exactly would you council that they'd be breaking the law in this thread about ...oh....a rimfire?
If you like the "bullpup" design, there are the Tavor, FN FS2000, FN PS90 and many other tactical bolt action rifles ie Steyr HS50. The problem with the G22 seems to be the removable "bullpup" stock among other things.
Drewz, this is the latest as of today. I put a deposit on one yesterday and we tried to transfer it today. The provincial cfo wouldn't touch it and transfered the store to ottawa, they flat out said it was a prohib and grandfathered. Their line was, it could only be transferred to another store who had prohib status but could not be transferred to any individual even they were prohib qualified because the gun was grandfathered. How is that for sane?????? So, I don't get the gun for now. Will call the NFA and try and get some help on this and force the issue. But as of today, Ottawa will not allow them to be transferred to individuals...hope this helps to clarify things. PM me if you like.
What kind of guns were those??
I have never recieved a letter from the CFC stating that my G22's status was anything but non-restricted. I do recall however that there was some kind of bulletin on CFC/RCMP site in or around 2006 time frame saying that the status may change. It is BS anyway you look at it. With all of their knowledge from the $2B machine you would figure they would let you know they were changing their simple little minds.
Not sure it would all fit in a crock pot. The person in ottawa was not making any sense just excuses. I was in TSE today and saw not one but TWO 308 bullpup tactical rifles with 10 round mags, yes they were bolt and yes they could be fired without the stock on them, they didn't have the steyr HS50 or it would have been 3, all non-restricted.
