Well,
last year I said I wouldn't be posting so much in the Battle Rifle section, because I was tired of the M14, and was going over to the dark side ... Black & Green ARs,
the kool aid was tastier there ...
and they have cookies.
[;{)

The BR section is after all,
mostly,
" Involuntary free advertising for the Norinco M 14."

But, yesterday,
to go along with my NEW AR 15 type poodle shooters,
and to keep company with my last, lonely, one and only, M14 shorty in manly .308 Win [ or ?7.62 NATO? ...
let's NOT go there ],

I bought an R25. in .308 [ or?7.62? ...
please, Please, PLEASE .... let's not go there]

So,
does the R25 qualify me to post back here in the BR section??.

IS the R25 ....

A Black Rifle?

A Green Rifle?

A Battle Rifle?

A Hybrid Modern Variant of the best damn Battle Rifle that never was?

A gun only fit for pussies who can't handle the quirkiness of the manly M14?

The way of the future ....
with M14 shooters mired in the past?

All of the above?

None of the above?

Enquiring minds want to know,

Laz - I like your posts better when you were faithful to your true love. This new, albeit hot, mistress isn't good for you man - come back to the M14 she will forgive you ( eventually !!!)

remember, ar-10s competed with m-14s long before the us army used the m-16, and ar-10s won out in everything that could ever be hoped for over the m-14 except for firing thousands of rounds on full auto without pause until the barrel burst (in an untested composite barrel)

that said, you couldnt carry enough ammo to burst the barrel

Meh..... It don't belong in MBR or Black rifle forum.... It is not a military (nato) chamber and is marketted by remington as a semi auto big game hunting rifle.
Maybe the boys in the hunting and sporting arms forums would appreciate this topic a little more than us "mired in the past" M14 Battle Rifle followers.

The R 25 may truly be a mutant ...
but at least it isn't yet a DWARF mutant ....
NOT YET!!!

Of course,
like all my battle rifles,
I plan to introduce the R25 to my friend,
MR Chop Saw,
chop it,
thread it,
comp it,
paint it camo green ...
wait a minute ...
Remington already did that for me.

Then it will be all set for use in my new job as a
Mall in-Security Special Strike Team Responder.

Now if only it's woodland paint scheme camouflaged it's relations with it's evil restricted cousin, us non-RPAL guys could buy one!

Good thing it's not a grass cammo pattern, or people might lose them on the ranges!:D

Yup, another rifle I'd consider but the "evil black gun" restricted status makes it a no go for me.
I do see the attraction though and looking forward to reading future posts on it's performance once a bunch of ammo have been through her.

Hungry,
I still have one shorty left.
[ M14 that is ...
not #### ].
[;{)

This shorty M14 is my LAST M14 rifle,
at least for the foreseeable future,
and It is NOT for sale!!
"Prying" and "dead hands" are appropriate here.

I need one last M14 for testing our CQB munimula cheese grater stocks. The funny thing is, our M14 stock design is attempting to make a silk purse into a sows ear, by changing the ergonomics on the M14 to match the AR 10 design ....
which IMHO, is the best handling "Battle Rifle" that never was.

I've rock and rolled with the FN [ C1 & C2 ],
with the M14 [ with a regular stock and with a pistol grip fitted stock ]
and with my favorite dance partner,
the old original AI Dutch built AR 10s.

The AR 10s were the ONLY full powered battle rifle that I could control effectively, when the beat got fast. The straight line stock, massive buffer [ which gave a "shuck shuck" forward and backwards sort of rocking motion ... like an old Browning Auto 5 long recoil shotgun ] gave it a downwards push during the forward part of the recoil cycle, which kept the muzzle where it was supposed to be. I won a lot of money, back in the day, at bowling for $$$ matches, with my AR 10s.

If we can get an M14 to handle any where near as well as an AR 10 on the quick and close stuff, then we will have succeeded. And Canuckistan can be safer for democracy, defended by a gaggle of CGN M14 lovers ...
inexpensive, NON-restricted, M14s hidden inside sleek, ergonomically optimised AR 10 lookie like stocks.

We are not undertaking this project just for the $$$$ you know ...
we are doing it for the children,
and for democracy.
