M-95 and M-95/34 Austrian Rifles

Hello,

I am interested in these rifles. Firstly, what is the difference between and M-95 Carbine and a M-95/34 Carbine? Secondly, how can one tell if the rifle is chambered for 8X50R or 8X54R? How easy is it to find ammo/reload for these rifles? Any special equipment? What diameter bullet is used? I have heard .323 and .329 and .327 so I am unsure.

If I recall correctly the difference between the 2 is that the 95/34 has been converted to the 8x56R cartridge.
IF it has been converted there should be a large S stamped on the top of the barrel just ahead of the receiver.
You can see an example of this in the photos of the M95 rifle that I have for sale in the EE.

New brass is being made.
You can find surplus ammo at most gunshows.
Reloading dies are out there.
A .329 bullet is required for reloading
 
Epps has Graf jacketed softpoint bullets for these rifles. Any original ammunition was likely made in the '30s or during WW2. You will need the chargers to load the rifle as anything other than single shot.
 
If you are looking at the tradex site, the m95 are true carbines & the 95/34 where cut down from rifles. Both are in 8x56r which has a .329 bullet, groove diameter runs .330 to .333 on average.

An M95/34 will have its stock swivels affixed differently as I recall (on the side), but both will typically be in 8x56R (the receiver will be "S" marked), with a small minority still in 8x50R. The extractor breakage problem is with the M95M and M95/24 in 8x57 as pointed out.
 
Thank you gents. I know now I am interested in the original M-95 Carbine then. Once again, I appreciate the helpful info and advice to be found here. Does anyone know where I can get the reloading charts/ballistics for this caliber? (8X56R)

The 8x57 Yugo conversion uses Mauser chargers. None of the straight pull Mannlichers are meant to be single loaded, it causes the extractor to bend or break. Always feed from the mag. The 95/34 has the tall ladder sight from the rifle, which I find rather odd looking. The proper carbine has the short ladder sight.
 
anyone know the genreal history of the use of the M95 rifles and carbines....I have some 8x56R ammo with WW2 German stampings on them ....did the Germans put them to any use during the war?
 
Anyone has epxerience with Yugo converts to 7.92x57? How are they like and their reliability/maintenance is similar to the original pieces?

Brain fart on my part, I was thinking of the 8mm carcano.
