Hey just a question, my grizzly came packed in grease, what is the best /easiest way to clean it so its good to use? All i have is synthetic gun oil and bore cleaner I use for my 9mm pistols. Thanks

hoppes 9 or any solvent for gun cleaning.
you may need a brush to get it all out.

for simple, inexpensive guns like an 870 or Mossy 500 when theyre really gunky i generally strip it completely down to parts, scrub everything (except the triggergroup) with really hot water, dish soap and a brush. the last one i bought off the EE had a handful of pine needles and grease in the receiver :)
hot water on warm metal dries very quickly inside a heated house. make sure everything is dry (use a hairdryer or heat gun), then spray everything down with a light coat of gun oil making sure you get into the little nooks to displace water, and wipe it down with a rag.
dont be afraid of soap and hot water - an 870 wont burst into rust instantly when water touches it, and its often the most straightforward way of getting off thick crud especially from inside the relatively simple 870/500 receivers.

now im just waiting for a certain special someone to chime in and say 'youre recommending people soak their priceless heirloom doubles in soapy water??'.

Murphy's oil soap works well combined with hot water. Also Lamp Oil and Kerosene will do the job.

Just don't use the Brakleen in side as it is a known carcinogen. If you care about that kind of ####?
