Vaporware is now reality.

We're very excited to finally be releasing our peep sight for the VZ58 family of rifles for sale to the public.

These are direct replacement parts that use the factory adjustment drum and leaf spring.

Material is 6061-T6 Aluminum with a black hard anodize finish.

The retail price is $60 and they are ready to ship as of tomorrow.

Does this also mount to the sks, or is there one for it soon?. I wold rather buy Canadian if i can.

Nothing for the SKS right now.

I'm really starting to like the Rauch Tactical guy. He keeps reading my mind and making my ideas reality.

Hmmm I thought I was the only smart guy on the internet  :D

I'm a newb, forgive my ignorance but would a peep sight offer a huge gain in usability over the stock rear sight?

Its all up to the user, most people find peeps more accurate and faster but some people are quite proficient with the standard notch.

Only graduated out to 400M?
That makes me, and any other VZ using service rifle shooter, a sad panda.

It's hard to tell in the photo, but it looks like the sight is tilted forward on the lowest setting, and will tilt more on the higher settings.

Wouldn't it be better if it was a bit more perpendicular to the sight line?

The sight is set at the "battle setting" AKA 300m so yes it is slightly tilted. The front of the peep is counter bored so that the peep is not obscured at any height by range adjustment and tilt.

Now you just need to be figure out a way to make it flip between a large peep and a small peep. That would be shweet.

Still, this is very awesome.

What sort of groups can you expect from a CZ/VZ at greater than 400m with iron sights???

Entirely dependent on ammo and conditions. If you have ideal conditions with ideal ammo you could expect a 5" group, with bad ammo, wind etc anywhere between 10-15". We didn't go past 400 cause the proportion of people who shoot beyond that range is quite small. However if there is demand from the competition crowd maybe we'll consider matching the factory settings.

In a military context with a rifle like this 500m+ shooting is generally volley fire.

No wind, MOA ammo (homegrown, match, sorted etc), and a skilled shooter. Basically ideal conditions. There is no doubt the rifle can do it, the shooter (ask me how I know :D ) and ammo are generally the weak link.

Slight off-topic question. I recently purchased an 858-2 and have gotten caught up with a lot of the mods available for this rifle (which I need like a hole in the head, I might add :p ).

I have wishlist for my rifle which will surely make up a sizable portion towards your next mortgage payment. #1 was the barrel lining and exterior coating.
Your first post on this thread shows your peep-sight mounted on the rifle. Please tell me that the chipped coating on this demo rifle is NOT the coating you supply now
