Yet another urban ops COYOTE...

Another fine rifle!

Question 1
What contour is that Krieger barrel? I'm looking at the Krieger contour page here:
http://www.kriegerbarrels.com/Contours-c1246-wp3382.htm

The "Rem varmint" contour is fairly thick at the crown (.830 versus a Medium Palma or Standard target at .820). To get a thicker crown you would need to go #14 "Heavy Palma" or #9 "Heavy Target". These both weigh 45% more (6.5 lbs versus 4.5 lbs) than the Rem varmint.

Question 2
Can Krieger do helical fluting on the "Rem varmint" contour? Looks like it would be a nice combination of reasonable weight and stiffness, particularly in shorter lengths (18.6" to 20").

Question 3
Can you spec any Mcmillan stock? The A1-3, with its simple design and relatively high comb would probably be a great complement to your Coyote.

Fantasy Coyote (the gun, not the critter) hunting rig:
-Helical fluted "Rem varmint" barrel in 6.5x47 (5R rifling at about 20")
-McMillan A1-3 stock
-Nightforce 2.5-10 x 32

Could be a good use for my tax return. I'll just have to explain to my wife that Costa Rica is overrated and staycations are where it's at :)

My Tax return is gonna look like your trader rating!!!

This is our own contour not shown on Krieger chart.

We do the spiral fluting here in house. It can only be done on our contours

Question 3
Can you spec any Mcmillan stock? The A1-3, with its simple design and relatively high comb would probably be a great complement to your Coyote.

You could spec this however delivery time would become 6 months instead of 2 weeks

How effective are the Tac brake on the coyote? Can you hold your sight picture easly in the scope? They look like 2 chamber with a baffle.

We call it the 4 port...It is standard on COYOTE with 6 port standard on TWOLF...It is very effective for maintaining sight picture. We can also install 6 port at no extra cost on COYOTE.

Can you say if there are advantages for 6 port over 4 port on 308 presures? I'm thinking muzzle blast and barrel length, control of barrel and recoil?

Ross.....have you compared the felt recoil between the 4 and 6 port brakes on a 308? If so is there much of a difference? Also, what is involved with converting an existing barrel with the 4 port over to the 6 port?

Chris.

Chris.

We have not done any formal tests however I am certain the 6 port would have greater recoil reduction...
