Magazine pinners?

By the time you incur the cost of postage to and fro, you could buy a pop rivet gun and pin your own, but you need a drill too and know exactly where to drill the hole for an exact fit.

Otherwise I'd be happy to pin your mags accordingly.

Pinning is the easy part. Getting mags here that need pinning may be the hard part. NO?

If it makes you feel better my factory Bushmaster mags were pinned to 4 rounds each. I took some of the coil spring out to bring them back to 5 rounds. Nothing to that at all...

The pop rivet protrudes into the magazine and stops the follower from moving down past 5 rounds. Ideally, your magazine should be pinned to 5 and a half rounds so you can still insert a magazine on on closed bolt.

Some of the worst pinned mags I have are those done "professionally". I have some of those C-Products lanced mags that have been relegated to the junk mag pile.

There are other, perhaps neater methods. A restrictor can be installed internally, and the magazine floorplate rivetted to make it non-removable.

I got a Colt 20rd mag once that was, in a way, pinned to five rounds (as in I could fit five rounds into it) however I couldn't load the mag into my rifle with the bolt still forward. The mag was pinned too high not leaving enough spring room to factor in the bolt. I had to fix this of course, giving the mag enough room to almost jam in six rounds thus making the five rounds in the mag able to be smoothly loaded into my carbine.

What is a "lanced" mag?

Thanks

The spine and front strap of the mag have a "flap" cut - lanced - into them (three sided cut) and the flap is bent (pushed) into the mag to prevent the follower from moving down any farther than necessary to accept 5 rounds.

Thanks, I always wondered what the difference was.

I have a question about that pinning... How do you clean your mags with the pin blocking inside? I have all my mags unpinned to do that clean up (thanks for my gung-ho trainers in the CF!), but as long as I don't put more than 5 rounds in it, are they illegal (well, reading it answer it...)
