I dont think anyone was using a muzzle brake last year and dont think they are allowed, correct me if I am wrong.

Sorry I should of clarified, some guys have recently purchased PGW Coyotes, comes with muzzle break for the upcoming season. My understanding was if a production gun, ie remmy, browning, AI, (pick a brand), comes with a muzzle break, its legal to shoot. Colt AR15 with flash eliminator, same idea. I don't think it should be allowed, hence my cheatin bastard comment:p Will have to get clarification and ruling from the match directors.

From BCTACTICALRIFLE.COM course of fire. I guess I was getting e and f confused. Well I know someone won't be happy when he has to take his break off an expensive rifle:eek::p

e. Flash suppressors - limited to factory production rifles that are originally equipped with one.
f. Muzzle brakes - prohibited on all rifles due to safety concerns caused by positional shooting.

I hear you. I am going to be shooting my TRG 22 with a 20 " barrel this year. it shoots way better than I do. I am going to have to take my brake off and put the threaded cap on. Not a big deal as I take it off every now and then to clean it. Not a big issue with the Coyotes either.

I agree, it's no problem as long as the rules are enforced equally :D

Even if they were allowed, think of the match where you shoot off your partner's shoulder. Who wants to be the partner to the guy with the 20" barrel and bigass muzzle brake?

There was a guy from south of the border shooting next to me that had a big ass flash suppressor and it was stock, looked and sounded like a muzzle break to me though. ;)

I really need to remember to bring my own beverages to the bbq too.

That IS a muzzle brake that Stan had on his factory Savage BAS-K rifle, and they ARE noisy as brakes tend to be.

Personally I don't care if someone has a brake in use beside me or not as I always wear hearing protection at the range, but I DO think that the rules should state either brakes or suppressors are allowed regardless of whether they are factory installed OR ALL rifles used are to be WITHOUT brakes or suppressors.
I seriously doubt that Remington supplied the cans on the ERT guys rifles as they do not make suppressors, which ARE brakes that are just quiet.

It was Darrel's BAS-K with the factory break. I was shooting with 9mikemike and I think Stan took the brunt of that maybe shook some filling lose.

Tagged for interest. Would love to give it a go this year.

Hoping that some one would be able to provide some insight:

I have an M14 that has been put in a new stock and has been shortened to 18.5". I had to replace the existing flash hider with a new one after the barrel was shortened since the threads TPI changed and I could not reuse the old flash hider.

Would this M14 be ok to use?

Thanks,
D.

I'm sure it would but don't you have a bolt gun to use? You'll have a hard time keeping up with an M14 of any length barrel. The targets are pretty small and require some exacting precision.

Don't have any other kit at the moment.

Might be better to hold off till next year then.

Cheers,
D.

I'm sure we could find you a rifle to borrow! No point in missing out altogether!

No worries, really appreciated. Had a great conversation with Ed at V-Bull and I'm probably going to come out and volunteer to get a grip on things while I work on getting a proper rig sorted.

Thanks again!

D.
